Other than Dame, which Blazer would you go to for the last shot if the Blazers were down 1 point?

Held them to 44 points the 2nd half and yes did miss some wide open 3 but the defense was dictating who was shooting the 3 though. 2nd half defense was shutting the drive down by Nurk taking a good angles for the help defender.

Yes Utah was missing dudes and missing some good looks, but for us to win fairly easily with Powell and Nurk also going 6-25 is impressive!

I've concluded three things have to happen for the Blazers to be able to play with anyone in the NBA.

1. Get good shots every time down. No lazy, iso offense unless we get a switch or a mismatch that dictates it. Know the time and score situation.

2. Play aggressively against the pick-and-roll. Take initiative defensively.

3. Push the ball when we get steals or long rebounds. We have great offensive players. Why play with one hand behind our backs by letting the defense set up?

It also helps a great deal when Melo is on, because he's going to shoot whether he's on or not.

Yeah, it's a road win when we spotted them a big early lead and effectively we won this by double-figures.

I knew that win is coming. I had that feeling.

Fantastic deffense tonight.

Go Blazers!

For the most part, I thought they executed really well. This is often the case with an 8 man rotation. Not the best shooting but they took good shots

How would you suggest us obtaining him?

only way would be with the tax-MLE

but Blazers have bigger decisions ahead with Zach and Kanter. It doesn't help that Nurkic and Zach seem so injury prone

Fuck. I totally forgot Zach was on this team again. Wouldn't be surprised if he didn't come back until the middle of next season. It's always something with him.

That was my thought.

The most optimistic thing I can say is: KO taking the tax-MLE to come to Portland is unlikely.

I think it's worth repeating:

I never liked the idea of Melo in Portland (even in his prime). When we signed him for the minimum, I still thought it was a bad move.

I was wrong. For the vet-minimum, this guy gets way too much slander.

Why the tax-MLE, we stayed out of the tax so don't we get the full MLE again?

I'm more mad at olshey than Melo. Melo will lose us a playoff game probably, and that'll be olshey and stotts fault.

if Houston comes back to win this tonight, we might be able to pick our opponent in the playoffs with some chicanery

that is insane.

I’m scared of the Clippers so I picked Denver

doesn't look like we'll get any help. we might need that last game against the nuggets just to avoid a play in.

I understand the dislike for Melo (I was that guy at one point), but he's contributed positively to us winning more than Olshey's marquee signing of DJJ. From a pure value standpoint, I could argue it was Olshey's best move this summer; which is also a scary thought.
