Game 70 Bruins vs. Rangers

Fox with yet another dumb penalty that cost us that fucking idiot.

The breadman scores twice and rangers lead 2-1 after 2.

Panarin with literally a career year.

He’s been pretty consistent regular season and now needs to carry this over into the playofffs.

Zibanejad with the empty netter makes it 4-2.

Panarin with the empty netter for the hat trick.

Can't remember the last time they swept the season series from Boston.

Solid win, good rebound from the Jets game. Guys like Fox and Zibanejad should see what Panarin has done and realize if they shoot more their games would raise to another level. You saw it on the Fox goal, he surprised Swayman by actually shooting, he should do more of that.

If they can beat Florida on Saturday night, the top seed in the East is right there. If they lose to Florida Saturday night, 2nd place in the Met is right there given how well the Canes have played. It is very tight right now, and how it finishes is still very much TBD. It does look like TB will be the top WC, and the Flyers/Caps will finish 3rd in the Met. The 2nd WC, top spot in the East, winner of the Met and Atlantic all TBD.

Outside of Florida and Colorado their schedule is pretty easy. Beat Florida they have a great chance at first overall in the league.

Agreed, the Florida game is the key game. They win that game and it's a very real possibility they get top seed in the East. The winner of that game actually sits in a great spot to be top seed in the East.

The Rangers have 12 games left and 5 of them are against teams in playoff positions and 3 others against non-playoff teams in their division. The Hurricanes also have 12 left, with just 3 against playoff teams. Florida plays Boston twice and 5 other playoff teams in their last 13. The Rangers could run circles around Florida on Saturday and it will have very little to do with who gets the top seed in the East. With this many games left there is no point talking about seeding or potential matchups, it is a waste of time.

I disagree. The Florida game is key if you care about the top seed in the East and a better matchup in round 1. No guarantee the winner gets the top seed, but that game will go a long way in deciding which team is the top seed IMO. It also could be the difference between playing TB, who will be the top WC (unless they sweep the Leafs then the Leafs could be the top WC), or the Flyers/Caps/Wings. So, I respectfully disagree if you don't think a head-to-head matchup between teams right next to each other in the standings matters for seeding with 11 or 12 games left. It is essentially a 4-point swing if it is decided in regulation.

With that said, it certainly isn't the end of the world if the Rangers lose, or some monster must win game, it is not, but it matters within the context of seeding and matchups. If you can set yourself up to play the Flyers/Caps/Wings instead of TB (or longshot Toronto) I think that is beneficial.

I want the Rangers to either finish with the top seed in the East, or finish 2nd in the Met behind the Canes. Winning the Met but finishing behind the Atlantic winner gives them TB (or longshot Toronto) in round 1, and I would much prefer to play the Flyers/Caps/Wings.

Wish they'd go back to road teams wearing the dark jersey.

way too many games left to start doing this "that game will go a long way" ... if there was 3 games remaining and they faced each other and they are tied in the standings..yeah then it will go a long way...but the rangers have a possible 24 points left while the Panthers have 26 points left and a game in hand.

1 game in the last 12 is not make or break

then again..with this board.. one game is the difference between heaven and hell

Agreed, as I wrote above, not some monster must win game, or the end of the world if they lose, not at all, we agree. But it is an impactful game if getting the top seed in the East is important to you or anyone. The winner of this game will have the inside track for the top seed. No guarantees, but it is impactful from that POV.
