Warning: Extreme Homerism Incoming
Excluding that silly 30 foot try from Dame (for those defending it, just stop), the Blazers were 4 for 20 from 3 (many wide open shots). And missed 10 free throws. And missed at least 15 shots at the rim (not an exaggeration). And allowed less than 50 in each half. These are all very unusual for this squad.
IMO, they played well enough to win handily if they shot even close to their average in any of these areas. To fall so fall short in all three...call it energy, call it intensity, call it focus, call it bad luck...I don't see it as a reflection on how good the team is or isn't so much as a commentary on how sometimes things just don't go your way.
Always tough to see the Blazers drop a game they could and should have won, but I'm very interested to see how they respond. Fully rested on Thursday, with the Knicks in town coming off a game in Utah tomorrow night, I expect a blowout.
