Game 80 Flyers vs. Rangers

Possibly going on 4 game losing streak to the playoffs is such a ranger thing to do over the years.
I'd like to think at the very least they'll beat Ottawa, but if they lose to the Isles it is possible that Ottawa game means nothing at all. On the flip side, if the Rangers win their last two games/get 4 points in their last two games, they win the Met and clinch top seed in the East, so it is all still right there. And one would think if they beat the Isles they'll beat the Sens with everything on the line, but with how they have been playing, there are no guarantees.

Funny thing Trouba decided to throw some hits in the third period down by 2. When was that in the first two periods.

Isles and Pens with big OT wins tonight. Those wins coupled with L's by the Caps and Wings put the Isles and Pens in solid spots to make the playoffs.

With a game at NJ left, in addition to playing us, and hosting the Pens, and they have a 3-point lead over the Pens, the Isles look like a solid bet to finish 3rd in the Met and play us or the Canes. And despite a tough schedule, with a one-point lead and the TB over both the Caps and Wings, you have to give the Pens an edge for the 2nd WC.

Canes at the Blues tomorrow night, that is the only game the Canes really have a chance to lose as they end the season at Chicago and at Columbus. So, if the Canes win tomorrow night, I think we'll need 4 of 4 points to end the season to win the Met, otherwise we'll play the Isles.

Then Bruins at Pens Saturday night is also a big game. We have the TB over the Bruins, so we only need 3 points to finish ahead of them. They play at the Caps and home against the Sens to end the season after they are at the Pens.

It is going to be really close, but I think the Canes will win out if you made me make a call. So, we get 4 of 4 points, or we finish 2nd in the Met IMO. And mentally that would be a tough pill to swallow given we have led the Met all season. We are truly on the verge of blowing what has been a great season if we don't win these last two games.

The only way they can truly blow this season is not going to the Stanley cup finals. Losing the last two games of the regular season wont mean shit if they go on a deep run.

100% that is factual, but it is a bit naive to act of as they blow all these games down the stretch and have a much tougher road and matchup in round 1, they'll just flip a switch and all is good on April 20th or 21st. Of course that can happen, it is not likely though if they blow it and face TB let's say. And I contend they have been playing poorly for the past 9 or 10 games outside of the Colorado game, which is a very bad way to be going into the playoffs. To me they need to get their sh*t together these next two games, not only to get the best path possible, but to stop the sloppy, unstructured, unfocused play.

I said on the verge of blowing it, and they are. They continue to play like crap these final two games, and then have a tougher road and play like this in the playoffs, what was a promising season will be one and done and have been totally pointless.

Get your sh*t together these final 2 games and go into the playoffs the right way please Rangers.

Lav is going to lose the locker room if he keeps snubbing Rempe to prove some silly point while his meek players have their asses handed to them. Considering he's had slightly better results than GG did with an inferior squad and those same weaknesses that got GG fired are once again emerging Lav needs to quit the cute crap and put Rempe in the lineup. Rempe gets the crowd involved every time he gets on ice and keeps the peace. Lav is going to find himself dealing with the same group of crybabies running to Drury blaming their shortcomings on the coach again if he doesn't pull his head out of his ass.

Trouba and Schneider 5 hits a piece, rest of team 8 hits. There is nothing the defense can do if the forwards won't aggressively forecheck then fail to get back on defense and backcheck. First goal 100% on Krappo not getting back leaving York wide open, 2nd goal fluky deflection again Krappo late getting back, 3rd goal Meeka gets pocket picked then sulks and the guy who picked his pocket follows the play and scores, 4th goal miscommunication with Lindgren/Panarin but by that time the Rangers had mailed it in.

I think this Brooks article is spot on, and is exactly what I have been saying:

Straining Rangers jeopardizing chance for best-case playoff scenario (nypost.com)

They are straining for the finish line, straining to lock up both first place in the East and in the Metropolitan Division that would, A) grant the Rangers home-ice advantage for at least the first three rounds of the tournament; and, B, and equally as important, would avoid a first-round matchup with Tampa Bay.

This is not magic season where you can play poorly, blow your best scenario in the process, and realistically expect to flip a switch on April 20th and away we go (can happen, but not easy to do it).

Lava needs to get his head out of his ass and reunite Miller and Schneider.

With the Canes win tonight, it almost assures the Rangers need to get all 4 possible points against the Isles and Sens, or the Canes will win the Met. Of course, the Canes could lose 1 of their final 2 games, but considering they play at the Hawks and at the BJ's, that seems unlikely to me. Good chance they end with 113 points, and with one regulation win they'll have 44 RW's. If we get 3 of 4 points and tie them at 113 points, the best we could do is 43 RW's, so the Canes will have the tiebreaker, hence we'll need to go 4 for 4 points wise and end with 114 points, otherwise we'll most likely play the Isles in round 1.

The Canes look really scary to me. They have won 6 of 7, and in those 6 wins they have allowed 5 total goals and have 3 SO's. They are the opposite of us right now.
