Davis is a keeper for sure.

I don't know what to make of Plumlee. He's had defensive problems against a number of centers. But he doesn't shoot well enough to play PF, or really have the speed to defend against quick PF's.

Davis and Plumlee are at the least excellent backup bigs.

Agree. I like both, they just physically outmatched against legit big men. I think they've played their asses off this season though, and I think we were lucky to get bigs of their quality for this season.

Down by 3 with less than 24 to play. Going for a quick 2 means you will have to foul. It also means they will put in their best free throw shooters. It also means you will foul one of them. It also means they will most likely hit both. Even if they miss one, you still will likely take a 3 to win the game, only now you have 7 seconds left and not 22. And if they make both free throws, as almost always happens, you still have to take a 3 to tie it, but again, you only have 7 seconds.

All roads point to the fact that you are way better off keeping the ball, not taking the quick 2, and shooting a three on your terms from the start.

I'm not sure KAT is a good matchup for him though. Leonard seems to frustrate guys that play a more physical style and like to bang (Cousins, Marc Gasol, etc). Guys that are skilled and more fluid athletes often leave him looking confused as they get an easy layup and he fouls them to give them a 3 point play.

Yeah I'm not excited for us to see slow footed Meyers coming of an 8 month injury guarding the best young athletic big man in the league.

Games like tonight prove why we need a lot of help this offseason from Neil. We have no low-post scoring options, so teams with good perimeter defenders can sell out to stop our guards. We don't have a true rim protector or bulky center, so we're prone to getting dominated on the offensive glass and the paint.

Teams fuck up a free throw or an in bound or a turnover all the time. It's anything but a guaranteed 2 points. The math says an 80% free throw shooter will only make both 64% of the time. Its not about that. It's about always talking shit about the team and Lillard when their doing bad, and then disappearing when they do good. You posted once during the Golden State win and never gave Dame credit, but he whenever he does bad you're always there to talk shit about him and knock him. Same with the Blazers. They play good and you never once say something positive as you disappear. However in a game like this, you're all over the board. Not once did you give Dame credit for his 4 point play. However, Towns makes a basic layup to win and you act like he's the second coming of Christ, and talk about how great the other team is. It's unbearable.

The thing is you won't have any sort of response that makes sense to this

If the opportunity had presented itself tonight to get a good look at a 3 then you take it. Which they have in the past. But by no means do you force a wild 3 when they're defending you 2-3ft beyond the line. Like they were tonight... You take what the defense gives you and play the foul game.
Curry did it tonight twice and almost lost the game by going for the home-run. He also did it vs the celtics with 50s to go and made their situation worse...
Basketball 101 is with timeouts and time on the clock you go for the 3 if it's there. If it's not you get the quick two and play the foul game.

Defense requires buy-in from the refs, period. Good physical defense can't happen without the refs swallowing their whistles. Refs call reputation. Defense (holding screening, leaping over backs, pushing, etc) to me is the most rigged part of the game.

That's not to say we don't make some of the dumbest mistakes in the league. But the foul disparity is frankly usually at least partially bullshit.
