Real talk: if the person you loved most in life became a Lakers fan, would you stop loving them?

Ya, Nash's first game as a Laker was against us and Dame's first career game.

I don't know what to tell you but you aren't remembering things correctly. Nash still tried to play the rest of the season after his leg healed but he was obviously not the same.

Interesting thing is 50% of Nash was still dominate.
It was unfortunate his back gave out on him after he recovered from the fracture in his leg.
Pretty crazy to look at his game logs for his last two seasons.
I remember watching him more than I cared for due to having a friend who was a Lakers fan.
Just crazy how that offense moved with him, and how ugly it was with him out.

No, Nash's first game as a Laker was an 8 point loss to Denver 10/30/12.
Portland played the Lakers 10/31/12 which was Lillard's first career game. So you were right there.

I wonder who's going to win the LeBron/Layman matchup?
:)

Since history tells us Stotts will pull Layman no matter how hot he is after 5-6 minutes and not put him back into the game until the 2nd half (for the same few minutes), even though the question was rhetorical, Layman has no chance....to even have a chance.

(However, I expect Layman on Kuzma and Amino on LeBron)

The one thing that could increase his minutes is fouls. Because of the urgency for the Lakers, I can see LBJ trying to take over the game from the start, attacking the basket. Based on the New Orleans game I would not be surprised to see a parade to the free throw line. Terry might be forced to play Jake more minutes because of it.

Watch this game will be a track meet. The Lakers will try to push the tempo to the point that the Blazers cannot keep up.
The best way to win this game is to completely control the tempo.

agree. I do hope we run with hem some w/Zach and small ball, with Dame & CJ. I think LA's weakness is their team D so lots of motion could give them problems.
They are going to again try and control the paint so we need to box out and bang on the boards.

Zach Lowe on Kuzma and Lakers:
Shooting made Kuzma an obvious fit next to LeBron James, but his canny cutting has taken that to another level. Kuzma skulks the baseline when his defender gawks at the ball. That is a handy skill playing with LeBron; the Lakers run a lot of their offense through the elbows, and LeBron attracts eyeballs lording over the action there.

Even better: Kuzma executes those baseline sneaks amid the chaos of semi-transition, and that is where the Lakers live.
About 64 percent of Kuzma's 2-point baskets have come via assists, up from about 53 percent last season. James alone has assisted him 20 times already.

Kuzma should stay in his starting role. Brandon Ingram should too, even if he deserves more run leading second units when LeBron sits. As I wrote before the season, playing James, Kuzma and Ingram together with a center -- JaVale McGee -- shifts the Lakers toward giant lineups.

That might be their best hope for offense-defense balance. The current starting five, with Lonzo Ball rounding it out, is plus-13 in 31 minutes so far. McGee has been, frankly, incredible by his standards over an unthinkable 27 minutes per game. (The Lakers need to be careful, starting yesterday, about running McGee into the ground.)

The Lakers, an awful defensive team overall, have allowed only 98 points per 100 possessions with LeBron and McGee on the floor, a mark that would rank second in the league, per NBA.com.

That starting five shoves Josh Hart, an essential two-way bruiser, into backup duty. Hart might just have to accept that. He is versatile enough to log 25-plus minutes off the bench, especially if the Lakers stop experimenting with silly things like playing Ball and Rajon Rondo extended stretches together.

They might even think about giving run to a super-big lineup featuring no traditional point guard -- something like Hart, Ingram, James, Kuzma and McGee/Johnathan Williams. Hart needs to play more than Rondo, period.

Luke Walton is solving a weird roster puzzle. Kuzma has solved part of it for him.

AND Dame?

It's always fun when a stealth candidate crashes the MVP conversation -- and the ballot, as Lillard did last season. If you're looking for that, look to Lillard again. He is making those of us who thought Portland might teeter look foolish -- so far.

Indeed you do Zach, indeed you do.

We need bodies to throw at him. Too bad Mo is injured, he would help.

I hear Ty Lue is available...

BNM
I think it’s possible Luke Walton gets fired and Lakers hire Lue. Then Walton goes to Cavs to coach Nance and Clarkson again.
Good point.

Also, guys who don't shoot well from the shorter FT line, rarely shoot well from the longer 3-point line

BNM

I think Andre Roberson is one of those guys.

No we didn't?
. You’re right. Only 9 points. I remember it as blowout because we were never in danger of losing.

We were up 1 in the middle of the 4th... lol.

Man what is the hype with Justin Herbert? Fan of the ducks but he’s underwhelming
