I'm sure the game will go on as scheduled tomorrow, but the only time I can remember a game being cancelled was in 03/04 or 04/05. Snowed like crazy and the team had played in Seattle the night before. I think it was a game against Memphis. Anyway, I know Rudy can drive the lane, let's hope he can drive on ice!!!!!!!!

Didn't Dale Davis miss a game because of snow or ice?

Yeah he missed the team plane because he couldn't get down his driveway due to icey conditions. pretty sure he got fined.

The people in the Mid-West and North East would absolutely laugh at us. This weather is very mild for them. Canceling a game over 3 inches of snow? you gotta be kidding me.

I remember the Washington game a couple years ago was played even though there was a bad ice storm. It took me 3 hours to get from Salem to I-205 and by then it was already halftime so I turned around and went home. There were only like 3000 people at the game and the Blazers allowed us to exchange the tickets. They even closed the upper bowl and asked everyone to go sit in the lower level.

No more snow until Wednesday and the roads are in pretty good shape in NE Portland.

No Joke! These are spring-like conditions for Minneapolis!

Those of us here in Beautiful Central Oregon are chuckling a bit also.

Oh God, Double D. Oh how glad I am that I no longer hear his name announced as a Trail Blazer at the games.

When they get hills all over their towns, then I will listen to their, "you can't drive in snow" drivel.

I lived in the Midwest for a few years as a kid. During snow storms friends and I made great sport of going to a very small hill with a stop sign at the bottom, where the road crossed a highway.

We would wave at the cars as they arrived to give warning, and then watch as they failed to repeal the laws of physics.

When you have solid continious ice on sloped roads - I don't care where you live or what experience you have - vehicles don't always cooperate with your desires.

Maybe not, but I've had quite a few of my desires taken care of inside of vehicles!!!!!!!

I had tickets to that Memphis game, and decided (along with about 15K other people) to not go to the game.

Ad some mountains, and some ice, and then they can ask questions.

Not that we get hit hard, but it's different to drive on snow on relatively flat ground, vs hills with ice.

The Mid-West is flat, flat as ..................... wait for it.............Rodolfo's wife!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the difference is that in the midwest, they actually pave the roads like crazy, all day. So while it's snowing a lot there, they do have decent road conditions.

Here, we aren't exactly used to snow so when it does happen, we don't really have the equipment or local crews to deal with it, thus very icy roads and unsafe driving conditions.

Excuses, excuses.

Decades ago the snow (deeper and more frequent) brought few traffic problems and was greeted with delight in the Portland area.

The difference between then and now?

Transplanted Californians.

Let me add my voice to those who are sick of hearing mid-westerners laugh at the local reaction to an impending winter storm. It's not the snow. No one cares about a few inches of snow. It's the ice; and as Masbee said, the topography, and as others have said, this area is not equiped to deal with the road maintenance. My dad used to live north of Spokane. The winters are cold (like -20 cold) and the snowfall is dry. I had no trouble driving there. Getting there from here, however, was quite dangerous. The problem here is that usually when it snows, it rains first, then it freezes, then sometimes it thaws and freezes again. All things considered, I'd rather be in Costa Rica.

Fargo was a bitch yesterday. Wind chills were around -50 all day with snow pouring all day. Terrible stuff. The whole city shut down, and thats pretty impressive since Fargo is built to withstand things like this.

Supposed to get 6 inches Wednesday!

It's Ice Ice Baby time!!!

HCP....Your momma's so fat when she fell over, she rocked herself to sleep tryin to get back up again.

Fool, yo mama is SO ugly, when she was born they had to put her in an incubator with tinted windows!!!

oh no you didn't!...you momma' so SMELLY her poo was glad to escape.

I lived in Bozeman, Montana for 12 years.

I moved back to Portland area 12 years ago, and again remembered why the city shuts down when the snow hits. The lack of removal equipment, the instant freeze, the lack of snow tires, and the hills make for a very dangerous place to live. I'm fine since I have four wheel drive and snow tires (we visit Bend/Bachelor all winter long), but after witnessing personally two wrecks on Boone's Ferry this am, I say shut it all down and let's go sledding.
