Here's the Oregonian's preview:

I really don't buy the above line of thinking. They really didn't add any pieces, and Billups is a year older. (He's 33, the same age as Miller, but then Miller isn't our second best player.)
The really tough matchup, as always, is Carmello. Frankly, it'd be that way if Batum was here anyway. The guy is just such a physical beast.
Portland once again has a big size advantage in the paint. Oden, Aldridge and Przybilla each have 2 inches or more on their Denver counterparts Nene, Martin and Anderson.

The Nuggets cruised past Northwest Division rival Utah Wednesday, setting up the first of four games against Portland. Led by Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups, the Nuggets look like they will be better than they were last season. If case anyone has forgotten, the Nuggets won the Northwest Division and advanced to the Western Conference finals for the first time since 1985.
Denver coach George Karl has said that this year's squad could be even better than last year's group. He expects the players to use the experience of the deep playoff run — the Nuggets had lost six consecutive first-round playoff series prior to last season — will serve as a catalyst and a motivator for the current team.
"It was an addition to their experiences, getting to a higher level of basketball in the playoffs," Karl said after the Nuggets-Blazers exhibition game. "That stage is the stage that all of us want to play on. That is the Broadway of basketball."
