NEW YORK (Ticker) - While the ugliness continued for the NewYork Knicks, the Golden State Warriors were glad for anotherchance to continue their turnaround.

Baron Davis scored 31 points as the Warriors cruised to a 108-82rout over the Knicks Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.

Stephen Jackson added 23 in his second game back from anseason-opening seven-game suspension. The Warriors have wonboth games with Jackson and three in a row after opening theseason with six consecutive defeats.

"We're in the point in our season where we don't really carewhat our record is," Davis said. "Our goal is to be above .500going into the All-Star weekend and that's what we plan for.Once we get there we'll be able to evaluate ourselves and pushforward."

Davis played 38 minutes and made 11-of-20 shots while grabbingsix rebounds and handing out seven assists. His performancecame on a night in which Golden State allowed 35 second-halfpoints, recorded 17 steals and allowed a season-low in pointsfor the third straight game.

"It's a good road win for us," Warriors coach Don Nelson said."I thought we played an excellent second half. I just thoughtour defense was really good, our steals and our quickness to thedouble-teams, rotations were crisp.

"We did an awful lot of good things defensively that I thoughtwe needed to do because they had a tremendous size advantage onus. It was just a pretty good all-around game."

The Knicks dropped their seventh straight game and fell to 2-8through the first 10 games. It is their worst mark through 10games since the 2002-03 season and also their longest losingstreak since Larry Brown's one-year tenure in the 2005-06campaign.

"We have to revamp," New York point guard Stephon Marbury said."We have to go back to the drawing board."

"This is as difficult a loss that I've had in coaching sinceI've been here," Knicks coach Isiah Thomas added.

This one was their first home game since Marbury was told byThomas he was not starting and then flew home from Phoenixbefore returning to the team Wednesday in Los Angeles.

Marbury was restored to the starting lineup after being areserve in the previous three defeats. He was greeted with booswhen he was introduced and on any occasion he touched the ballearly on.

Thomas also was greeted with boos during introductions and a fewfans chanted "Fire Isiah." Their vocal calls for Thomas'termination became increasingly louder as the Warriors took a13-point into halftime.

"What they saw tonight, if I paid my money to see this game, Iwould be upset also," Thomas said. "This is New York so if youplay well you get cheered and when you play this poorly you getbooed.

"I didn't necessarily understand what they were chanting becauseyou try to focus on the game. You know it wasn't nice. Whenyou are watching a game we like played tonight, the venom thatcomes out, you deserve it."

Davis scored 11 points in the opening period and his three-pointplay with 5:18 remaining put Golden State ahead, 16-15. TheWarriors never relinquished their lead and used runs of 10-5 and13-5 in the second to gain further control.

Davis had five points in the initial run and Jackson scored fivein the final 4:20 of the first half, including a 3-pointer thatput Golden State ahead by double digits for the first time.

The Warriors failed to extend their lead as they missed theirfirst eight shots of the second half and nine of their first 11.The Knicks were within nine on a David Lee basket with 6:18remaining that prompted Golden State coach Don Nelson to call atimeout.

The Warriors eventually restored their double-digit lead with a9-3 run that gave them a 77-62 advantage through three. Theresulted in more boos for New York and an increase in the chantsfor Thomas' firing.

Golden State finally put the game away in the early minutes ofthe fourth as reserve Austin Croshere converted an uncontestedbackdoor layup for an 86-70 lead with 9:05 remaining.

By the time Monta Ellis hit a 15-footer for a 92-73 edge with6:09 left, many in the crowd headed for the exits but some whostayed increased their volume in their anti-Thomas chants.

In his first appearance in front of the home fans since a 75-72loss to Miami on November 11, Marbury scored 18 points in 38minutes.

Zach Randolph recorded another double-double with 15 points and16 rebounds.

Randolph's scoring and rebounds were among the few positives forNew York, which had 15 turnovers by halftime, 22 through threeand 29 overall.

"When you turn the ball over 30 times, anybody could beat ustonight," New York forward Quentin Richardson said.

Randolph's scoring and rebounds were among the few positives forNew York, which had 15 turnovers by halftime, 22 through threeand 29 overall. Randolph led the Knicks with seven turnoverswhile Jamal Crawford and Mardy Collins had four apiece. GoldenState scored 35 points off those giveaways.

"You are not even giving yourself a chance to win when you arethrowing the ball away," Crawford said. "I don't think any teamcan win throwing it away 30 times."

Re: NBA: GOLDEN STATE (2-6) at NEW YORK (2-7)

Nice game by the W's. This season should be a whole lot easier than last season if we can win on the road against teams we should beat. This is contributed to two things IMO; Jack and Baron are able to close out games in tough situations and also I thik that this year our frontline play and rebounding is significantly better and controlling the boards is key on the road. Last year our only options at PF/C were Biedrins and Al, maybe some Powell if we were really desperate. Now we have Beans, Al, POB, Wright, Croshere, Mbenga who all give you some size and rebounding while also maintaining speed and offensive mismatches on offense. We aren't totally vulnerable when Beans has to go to the bench and we have a ton of different looks to throw out there.

Beans and Al are the constants of the group. It seems like Nellie likes Wright a lot but still won't put him in against beefier frontlines. He gives us some defensive presence, energy, and a guy who can play nice D on SFs and PFs due to speed and size. Hes just a gamer and plays smart even if hes a bit too anxious at this point in his young career. Nellie also likes Cro a lot and I thik he goes to Cro more when the team is struggling offensively. Tonight against the Knicks he put in Croshere instead of POB or Wright when our offense was struggling. Cro can definitely shoot it when hes open and hes a surprisingly decent defender and rebounder. Nellie will put POB in if the opposing frontlines are too big for Wright, the kid seems to be pretty smart and hiuus presence in the paint really wards off penetration for the other team. I like what I see form POB but it seems like Nellie only plays him when Cro/Wright are too small to match up. Mbenga will probably play the least of any of them but still comes in handy when Andris/POB are being outmuscled by the bigs Cs in the league (like tonight). Hes a nice 3rd C to have but his lack of offense will keep him off the floor unless AB and POB are in foul trouble or too light to defend the Curry's, Yao's, Shaq's, etc.

Out of that group we are much less vulnerable on the glass than we were last year. Although the team seems less explosive we're still putting up gaudy offensive numbers. I like that Nellie is going al ittle bigger and though I never expect to see this team be an above average rebounding team I think its safe to say we're much better off than last year.

Nice comments. I had to watch this again to get the taste of today's Boston game out of my mouth. I probably wouldn't know any better, but I think it was ass.
