NBA: MILWAUKEE (7-6) at NEW YORK (4-10)

Thomas, Knicks look to bounce back from horrific loss

Milwaukee (7-6) at New York (4-10) 7:30 pm EST

NEW YORK (Ticker) - Hopefully a return to Madison Square Gardencan get the bad taste out of the mouth of the New York Knicks.

The lackluster Knicks will try to capture their third straightwin at home when they welcome in the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday.

Nate Robinson led the way with just 11 points off the bench asNew York suffered a humiliating 104-59 setback to the BostonCeltics on Thursday.

"We take two steps forward and one giant step back," Knickscoach Isiah Thomas said. "And I don't know where this game camefrom, I thought we played extremely selfish (Thursday) in termsof no ball movement. We didn't screen for each other.

"We definitely didn't see this type of game coming after thelast two games that we played and the way we were playing andmoving. This was just not a good night."

The Bucks dropped their second consecutive outing Thursday - a96-80 loss to the Atlanta Hawks despite 47 combined points fromMichael Redd and Mo Williams.

Milwaukee enters with one of the worst records on the road atjust 1-5. Its lone win away from the Bradley Center cameagainst the Cleveland Cavaliers last Tuesday.

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- The boos started early, and for threequarters the New York Knicks rarely gave their fans a reason tomake them disappear before staging their best comeback of theseason.

One night after an embarrassing 45-point loss, Jamal Crawfordnailed a go-ahead jumper and reserve Fred Jones capped thevictory with stellar play on both ends of the floor as theKnicks posted a 91-88 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Fridaynight.

Zach Randolph scored 27 points, including a rare 3-pointer atthe buzzer in the first half, and Crawford added 25 for theKnicks, who played the final period without guard StephonMarbury (right shoulder).

New York, which outscored Milwaukee, 26-11, in the final period, has won three of its last four games despite the controversyswirling around the club.

The Knicks, who used an 18-5 run to regain the lead for thefirst time since the first quarter, needed a big effort on bothends of the court in the waning seconds by Jones, who playedcrunch-time minutes with Marbury sidelined.

Trailing, 87-85, the Bucks went to Mo Williams, who drilled a3-pointer to give them an 88-87 lead with 2:34 left. The teamsthen went scoreless until a wild final sequence.

Crawford banked in a difficult jumper and got fouled with threedefenders surrounding him to make it 89-88 with 28.7 secondsleft. He missed the ensuing free throw.

Milwaukee then went to star guard Michael Redd, who was houndedby Jones on the perimeter, forcing him into a deep, contested3-pointer which was off the mark with 7.9 seconds left.

David Lee grabbed the rebound and found a streaking Jones, whothrew down an emphatic jam with fourth-tenths of a second leftto provide the final margin. After a timeout, Redd missed ashot from the arc as time expired.

After trailing by double digits most of the night, the Knickscame storming back, making it 82-80 on Jones' three-point playwith 5:41 remaining.

After forcing a turnover, the Knicks missed a chance to tie asLee missed the first foul shot and had the second taken awaybecause one his teammates committed a lane violation.

New York tied it twice as Crawford's 3-pointer forged an 85-85tie with just under four minutes remaining. Jones then forcedRedd into missing a long 3-pointer and, after Andrew Bogutblocked a shot, Quentin Richardson intercepted his inbounds passand drove to the hoop for an 87-85 lead.

For the Knicks, their problems are a little deeper than recentlackluster losses.

Less than 24 hours after a 45-point beating in Boston in whichthey scored 59 points in front of a national televisionaudience, no Knicks starter was immune from the jeering - whichwas mostly targeted at coach Isiah Thomas and was the loudestfor Eddy Curry and Marbury.

While there were not many chants of "Fire Isiah," the fans werenot shy in displaying their displeasure as Milwaukee took a37-21 lead on a basket by Bobby Simmons early in the secondquarter.

After missing five of their first six shots to start the second, the Knicks rallied by scoring the next 11 points.

That put them within 37-32 on a basket by Randolph with 5:33remaining, but Redd scored eight of Milwaukee's next 12 points, opening up a 49-36 lead with 2:50 remaining and resulting in aloud chant for Thomas' firing.

Redd scored 27 points on 10-of-23 shooting for the Bucks.
