EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Chris Bosh scored 11 ofhis 14 points in a dominant second quarter and Andrea Bargnanihelped put on a shooting display as the Toronto Raptors rolledto a 106-69 victory over the New Jersey Nets on Friday.

The Raptors are the defending Atlantic Division champions, buthave been somewhat overlooked entering this season as there-constructed Boston Celtics have garnered most of theattention. But the Raptors may have raised some eyebrows with adominant performance against the Nets.

Bosh attempted just one shot in the first quarter but bouncedback as Toronto seized control in the second. He made 3-of-4shots in the period and capped it in dramatic fashion, when heintercepted a long inbounds pass from Jason Kidd and launched atwo-handed 55-footer as time expired that went in and gave theRaptors a 56-41 lead.

T.J. Ford, Juan Dixon and Jose Calderon combined for 16 pointson 8-of-10 shooting in the quarter as the Raptors made 13-of-22shots.

Bargnani had 10 points in the meaningless fourth quarter andfinished with 21 on 7-of-11 shooting. He buried four 3-pointersfor the Raptors, who shot 51 percent (39-of-77) overall andmade 13-of-22 shots from the arc.

Richard Jefferson scored 27 points, giving him 56 in two games, but Vince Carter was held to seven points and attempted just sixshots. Carter has made just 8-of-27 shots after two games andhas yet to display the offensive ability that made him theleague's eighth-leading scorer last season.

What a royal asskicking that was...

Re: NBA: TORONTO (1-0) at NEW JERSEY (1-0)

Statement game, indeed.

That was about as dominant a performance as I've ever seen from the team. They just started a run in the middle of the 1st quarter and never looked back. Hard to come up with anything to improve upon either: they were efficient, moved the ball, ran the break, rebounded, played good team D. Bargnani is justifying the hype in his second year as he looked pretty much unguardable all game long (looked very comfortable down low, rebounding, and defending the post).

I don't know about you guys, but I thought the turning point in the game was in the 1st, when Jamal Magloire entered the game. The Raps couldn't get anything going on offense before that substitution, but once he was in, Bargnani began lighting it up and the offense picked up. Magloire was just a terrible matchup against a team that had an abundance of 3 pt. shooters.

I was right about our bench too. Everybody stepped up when called upon (including Juan Dixon, who I've never really been high on). The more I watch Delfino, the more I love his game. He does everything well and just keeps making good plays on both sides of the floor. If we get this kind of bench production against the Celtics, I think that game is easily ours.

Re: NBA: TORONTO (1-0) at NEW JERSEY (1-0)

Delfino might wind up being one of the best off-season pick-ups of any playoff team. The guy is better than advertised. There is a chance he winds up being better than Kapono, who he doubled-up on minutes tonight. I think maybe his facial expressions make people think he is lazy or that he doesn't care. Hell, I've thought that about him before. But the guy has game.

At the other end of the spectrum you have Magloire, who looked like the player who couldn't win the starting gig on a miserable Blazers squad. His reputation as being a stone-handed black hole on offense is deserved. With the Nets easing Krstic into the season they are really going to be hurting for front court skill. Sean Williams and Malik Allen had more burn than Krstic, Mags, or Collins. Maybe that's because it was a back-to-back but there is no reason to willingly lose the back end of those.

Bosh isn't in game shape yet after foot and knee problems in the summer but his energy is still there. Good to see him getting to the free throw line.

Richard Jefferson had a good offensive game. He seemed to be getting to the line at will in the first half. From the looks of it the other 2/3rds of the big three don't have the wind to play hard two nights in a row. I doubt it is a sign of age so I suppose they are just writing this one off.

My favourite play of the game was right after Calderon got clocked. The next play he drove the lane fearlessly and we wound up setting up a three pointer as a result. 8 assists and no turnovers in 20 minutes for Jose tonight.

The Izod Center sounds like a library.

Re: NBA: TORONTO (1-0) at NEW JERSEY (1-0)

Nice to be back on JBB. The 2nd quarter was the turning point when Calderon, Dixon, and Delfino just killed it.
