Good article, I’m pretty excited to see what Trent Jr can do.
The Trents moved from Columbus, Ohio, to Minneapolis when Gary Jr. was in fourth grade. Since then, he has been a star on elite teams at local, national and international levels. He helped Apple Valley High to the state prep championship as a sophomore, was a member of three clubs that won AAU age-group national titles and played on the U.S. team that won gold at the U-17 World Championships.
What did you do? Copy & Paste a post from 1988?Kerry Eggers is one of my favorite local writers covering the Blazers...don't think he gets enough credit sometimes
Who's minutes do you think he'll take?I also think he'll be part of the rotation sooner than expected - like maybe even the second half of this season,
BNM
duh..Elmers glue and a spiral notebook....back when posting meant putting a stamp on itWhat did you do? Copy & Paste a post from 1988?

The only way Trent plays is if Terry takes CJ off the second unit. That kind of trust would only come with time.
Which long term I think is better for us as a team. Staggering CJ and Dame so that one is always on the court only gets you so far in this league. It hurts the flow of the second unit imo having CJ in it. We need a solid five that come off the bench each night and let our starters rest together so they can talk and what ever on the bench.
Idk I'm sure Pop runs a full bench unit at times. I get what you're saying about teams keeping a starter but with our team I think we rely on CJ and Dame too much for offense. When CJ is on the floor with the bench he's the number one option. No one else steps up they just defer to CJ lol. I hope we run a ton of bench only second units in the preseason to see if we can produce without CJ and Dame on the floor. I think in the long run Ant and Gary will be able to step up.Every team in the nba attempts to keep at least one of their main offensive kogs on the court at all times.
It makes everyone's job on the second unit easier if this is the case.
Not doing this is going against what has been trending in the NBA since really the turn of the decade.
You don't have to like CJ in this position because in your opinion it's not natural for him to make plays for others.
By having him run with the second unit prevents ball movement due to CJ's tenancy to pound the rock.
But having the opinion there should be two separate units is no longer relevant in basketball. Only in video games.

Pending health.
Curry is a clear upgrade from really any bench player Portland had on the team last year.
By adding him to the roster he alone will allow Portland to rely on Lillard & CJ less.
But I still don't see Portland having both Lillard & CJ on the bench for lengthy stretches over a game. If at all.
Spurs are different. They've had the luxury of Manu for a long time now.
The Spurs are different and Curry will thrive with us. But he's gone after next season unfortunately.
Curry is the best guard off the bench we've had since Steve Smith his last season here. I know Curry missed last season but that's been such an underrated move.Pending health.

Bench only second units would be a big mistake because it wouldn't give Curry enough minutes. There's only 25 minutes behind Dame and CJ, and that's if you stagger them. Take them off the court at the same spot and you only have ~12min per player since you have to play 2 backup guards.Idk I'm sure Pop runs a full bench unit at times. Well I guess some staggering would be required but a least moments of a bench only would be nice. I'm thinking during long road trips and such.
How?I know he was the forum whipping boy, but I'd go for a more recent guard.
Moe Williams. Hopefully Curry shows up for more than just 1 game in the 2019 playoffs.
But still.
