Yeah, right. Don't PM MNFL. He'll probably try to hit on you!

Thanks for the welcomes, MNFL and pegs.

I was just thinking, maybe this is a good thing for the nets. I know kidd's going to be pissed and bitch to Thorn, but Rod Thorn could just turn around and say, "Don't be mad at New Jersey. We did our best to send you to the place you wanted to be sent to. You really should be mad at Devean George."

Then Kidd will just mellow out with all these trade talks and we start playing some better basketball. Swift and Krstic will come along and maybe we'll trade mags + etc for mike miller and everything will go smoothly.

Sigh, a man can dream...

I'm tempted to write a song about him.

You are a terrible player
And I hate you
I don't really know
How to pronounce
Your first name
BUT
Your last name
Is a first name

Now the chorus:

YOU SUCK YOU SUCK YOU SUCK YOU SUCK

how's that for a start?

Okay, how about this revision:

Dallas Gets:

Jason Kidd
Malik Allen

Memphis Gets:

Trenton Hassell
Eddie Jones
Dallas 2010 or 2008 1st round pick

New Jersey Gets:

Devin Harris
Jerry Stackhouse
Mike Miller
Cash
Dallas 2010 or 2008 1st round pick
Gentlemen's agreement that Dallas will offer MLE to Stackhouse to cover the majority of the buyout.

Works at ESPN:

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/trad...p;te=&cash=

ETA: Memphis might do this because Hassell's salary is same length as Miller's but half as much. Jones is cheap, expiring, and could be waived or bought out. They get a first rounder for a time when they will likely be under new ownership.

any chance this is just Bartlestein sticking it to Swartz.....an agent rivalry??...is there a lower life form?

could rewrite Antoine Walker's classic song and replace it w/ "Devean's Night"...

(THRILLER THEME STYLE)

It's close to crunch time
and Devean George just lurks beyond the arc
Under the spotlight
You see a sight that almost stops your heart
You try to scream
But George just takes the shot before you make it
You start to freeze
As the airball hits you right between the eyes
You're paralyzed !!!

'Cause this is Devean
Georgie's night
And no one's gonna stop him
From the brick about to strike
You know it's Devean
Georgie's night
He's looking for his shot
Outside for 3 points
2 points

yeah !!!

hahaha thats so money. repped in spirit

George owes me 250 bucks I paid to sit through a Jason Kiddless game dreaming about Devin Harris.

You bitch.

All bow down to the power of King Devon George!!!...lol
.

I don't think even Kobe has the power to veto a trade, just what were the mavs thinking??

I don't think Eddie Jones makes enough money to make it work. Plus, Eddie Jones is much better than George and gives them a very good shooter off the bench with playoff experience.

As for waiving him, what good is that going to do? If you waive him, you can't trade him. It'd make no sense to simply remove someone from your roster just because he's invoking a clause that he's got. Plus, the deal could still work, and if you waive him, you have to replace him in the deal.

The Mavs can give KVH a magic envelope to complete the trade

^hopefully the envelope would be so big that we wouldn't have to buy out Stack either. But still get Diop and Ager.

ya gonna crack up on this

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Ticket is saying because George's agent is traveling that is the reason why the deal got vetoed for now. George wants to talk to his agent before he ok's it to see what his options are and what happens to him. He does not mind going to NJ because he and RJ are very good friends.</div>

LOL this is too hilarious

The thing that I don't understand now, with that in mind, is why didn't the Mavs include KVH instead of Stack and George to begin with?

That would've solved/prevented ALOT of problems coming from this trade.

I hope RJ chokes the shit outta George if he comes to NJ.

Luxury taxes. Sending KVH to the Nets means the Mavs are taking back even more salary on which they would have to pay taxes

So, apparently George doesn't want to lose his Bird Rights, which give him leverage in resigning and what not during the offseason. That's the current hold up here. If he gets traded, his Bird Rights go bye-bye.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Moo2K4 @ Feb 13 2008, 11:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I don't think Eddie Jones makes enough money to make it work. Plus, Eddie Jones is much better than George and gives them a very good shooter off the bench with playoff experience.

Not sure if you are responding to what I posted, but I think you may have mistaken the deal and the stated motives. It's widely known that Memphis is cutting salary and trying to acquire future assets and shorter contracts in preparation for a sale of the franchise. They have no use for Eddie Jones, and since he would certainly rather stay in Dallas to compete with a championship caliber team, the waiver would satisfy both parties. Hassell makes about half what Mike Miller makes with the same term, so they save money and cap space over the next few years.

The trade as propsosed works according to the ESPN trade machine (see the link). The big difference for the Nets is that they get Mike Miller instead of one of the Dallas first rounders, a very nice upgrade IMO.

early bird rights, but other wise that is a big part of what he is claiming.

Cuban must be pissed, he wanted to do this quickly and swiftly and now a former Laker holds this deal up. Think about it another Western Conference team right now can attempt a side deal if he's not careful. And now you basically told Devin Harris, Diop and George we really don't want you .. the Bulls did this too this season.
