90% of trades that dont involve the name melo are dead as soon as reported unless the deal is official.

see deron williams. nobody saw that coming at all.

look at landry deal. done as soon as posted.

look at mavs/blazers with harris. speculation leads to dead.

At least this just confirms Jaynes is a hack. He knows nothing. He just pulled a "deal coming soon" moment.

on the contrary... if I have taken one thing from all this is.. Wallace is done in Charlotte ;)

Landry, Harris, Thornton, Murphy have all been talked about as likely movers this past week. All were moved. Not sure if Wallace will be moved, but your logic is.....wait for it......crap.

NBC CHANGES ORIGINAL POST.... NOW SAYING "LIKELY" INSTEAD OF "DONE DEAL"

Gerald Wallace likely traded to Portland, Pryzbilla sent Charlotte

UPDATE 3:51 pm: It looks like it is a done deal or very close — Gerald Wallace has been traded to the Portland Trail Blazers, according to a tweet from the well connected Dwight Jaynes. (No other confirmations, yet, but he is a good source.) And no, Nicolas Batum is not part of the package headed back to Charlotte. That makes this a win for Portland at first glance.

The deal will send Joel Pryzbilla, some draft picks and cash and back to Charlotte. That’s it. The Bobcats had been working hard to save money and that seems to be what they get out of this deal. Not players that make them better.

Portland, with Batum and Wallace at the two and three, could be one of the best defensive teams on the perimeter in the league. What’s kind of sad to think is that if they had the old, explosive Brandon Roy and a functional Greg Oden this team would be a serious playoff threat to the West elite.

landry was never mentioned to hornets. till deal was done.

deron williams never mentioned to nets.

devin harris never mentioned to utah.

see a pattern here?

The players were talked about, but the basic deals that actually occurred were not. Harris to Utah--complete shock. Landry to NO--out of nowhere. Murphy to GS--huh, where'd that come from?

That's the point MIXUM's making, and it's a valid one.

Looks like the guy figured out Jaynes is full of bullshit.

And this is why real journalists require two independent sources before publishing breaking news. Ah, the good old days of journalistic integrity...

Something doesn't seem right about this deal. I just don't believe the Bobcats would trade Wallace for Przy/1st rounder/cash.

No. You're just dumbfounded that Cho, who you've bashed since Day 1 could possibly pull of the best deal of the deadline.

Just like my grand pappy used to say, "Loose lips sink ships."

I thought I read the Landry stuff and the Murphy stuff a couple days ago.

Murphy to DEN, sure, but to GS? For Gadzuric/Wright? I certainly hadn't. Landry to NO? I'd seen nothing until yesterday.

Maybe I'm alone on this one...

So one of the idiots is right.

Quick says no trades

Vance says Wallace

Unless of course there is a trade not involving Wallace

YESSS

Sources close to the situation confirm rumored reports... Trail Blazers to land Gerald Wallace from Char, still working on player details.

Did you see MIXUM's original post? "90% of trades that don't involve the name melo..."

Believe it or not, I don't go searching out MIXUM's posts. Still, even if you accept the premise that most trades that we hear about don't happen, you have to remember this one just came up a few hours ago. Too early to call it either way.

Ever heard of a joke?

Yeah, that didn't look like one to me. It looked like someone attempting (lamely) to use the melo-drama as an example to refute MIXUM'S premise.

Still does. Thanks though.

You are, but it's ok. I've seen Murphy for the GSW pupu platter for a couple of days. NOH has been talking about shoring up the frontcourt and targeting Landry for weeks. The Deron trade came out of nowhere, sure. But the others? Mixum's opening arguments weren't factual, so the straw man failed. :dunno:
