You can't use a TE with another piece. Giving cash in the deal doesn't count toward the salary match.

since Crash makes 10.5M, we have to send back 8.3M in salary (125% + 100K) Joel's only 7.4053M. So we need to send out 894,700 in trade. Marks is only 799,500 in cap hit (though he makes 1.2M league vet min). Patty's cap hit is 937,500 and would work. E. Williams' is 1.255M and would work.

Only if what you're absorbing is a player whose salary is less than or equal to the value of said exception. It can not be used for Wallace. This is absolute, 100%, guaranteed, certain fact.

Well--for example, when we were looking at trading for Anthony Randolph. We could have used the trade exception to trade a pick for him without having to match salaries.

No, it doesn't. It allows us to bring in a player less than the amount of the trade exception (in this case 2.302M), but we still don't meet the threshold of 125% + 100k.
