Getting a b/u Center

I think starting center is the problem, even though I really like Rolo.

I know it may be a pipe dream but I like this trade. It makes sense for Memphis, maybe throw in a draft pick because they are in rebuilding mode and need to move their best asset to get anything of value in return. I think it may actually hurt Portland this year because it makes our bench very thin, but we could go after some bench help this summer and then be a contender next year.

This brings up a good question. Who do we prefer to keep in a Trob vs Joel scenario? At first one would easily say TRob. But I have always thought Joel would be a good back up PF. Not as flashy, not as much potential, but solid and more versatile on defense. He is a true 4/5 guy to have on your bench. Trob strictly a 4. Tough question IMO. Obviously depends on who else we have in the middle.

The thing is Freeland is fine being a 10-15 minute producer. T. Rob wouldn't mind either, but he needs a ton of playing time to really get into the flow of the NBA. He really needs to be on a rebuilding team that isn't looking to win games, but develop players. Charlotte, Milwaukee, Toronto, etc.

I have no doubt T. Rob will eventually be a beast in this league. I've seen flashes of it! I just don't want to wait until he does, and I definitely think it's unfair for him to sit like he is.

LMAO!!!!! Of course you, me or any limped mental midget would agree.

Freeland can play with Haws, because Haws is more like LA than Lopez, and Freeland is more like Lopez than Haws. I think this would be a good move for Portland, and it would add another ton of crow on Ben Golliver's plate that is already going to take a century to choke it all down.

Having Freeland, Aldridge, Lopez and Hawes as our front court is Beastly, IMO. Freeland won't dazzle you with the athleticism, but we don't need that. What he will give you is someone that can back up Aldridge enough for him to rest. Hawes will carry Aldridge's scoring load during him sitting.

This line-up would also have a very versatile combo: Aldridge and Hawes for the super scoring front-line. Hawes and Lopez for the dual twin towers. Freeland and Lopez for defense.

This is how I look at it. I like Robinson, but he's a project. If you bring in Hawes, he provides scoring and Freeland can just do what he does best.... rebound and defense. I think CJ is much more polished and further along than Robinson, so CJ will actually be able to contribute on this team. Robinson is just too inconsistent at this point. Last night he played something like 4 minutes.

If we got a healthy CJ back, and Hawes, I would feel pretty good about our bench.

Same here. Mo, CJ and Hawes all can score. No way they couldn't put us around 25 points a game. I would like 30+ a game, but that's probably a reach.

25 a game is fine with me. All I want is for the bench to not lose ground. Either by maintaining a lead, or not allowing the other team to build on a lead. That's all I want. We have seen the bench either blow a lead, or allow another team to build on a lead (like last night) so many times this year. It's so frustrating.

I think Rolo can be much more of a defensive force if we did not have to worry about him getting in foul trouble. In the first half he guards his man but does not bang with him. It's almost like he has been told not to foul. He plays better D in the 4th when he gets more physical with his man. Maybe he is used to picking up tick tack fouls and is afraid of sitting on the bench or maybe Terry has told him we need him on the floor, "back off".

Ok, so the forum has decided to deal Robinson Leonard and Barton for Hawes. Great. Let's get a Sixers forum on the phone and get this deal done.

"Good morning Mr. Golliver. What would you like for breakfast?"

"I'll have a bowl of Wheaties with skim milk and crow-berries on top."

"Very good sir. Would you like to pre-order lunch and dinner?"

"Certainly. For lunch I will have a crow sandwich on sourdough with swiss cheese, dijon mustard, lettuce, tomato, bacon and no mayo. For dinner I'd like crow-a l'orange with a side of grilled asparagus and a baked potato. For dessert I'd like the baked crow pie a la mode. By the way, did you see that I wrote the menu? I took the chef's recipe's and put 'By Ben' over the top of them. Quite ingenious wouldn't you say?"

Let's get the ball rolling on this. How much for a billboard in Philly?

a quick change of subject here, is MO reminding any else more and more of Crawchuck?
Since the first game. Only not as good, and a little less ball hoggy. Mo actually tries to get assists.

I absolutely hated Crawchuck, but I have no animosity for Mo, who seems like a genuinely good guy, who is trying his best to do what he thinks is best. I just don't like the execution or the result. His offense is what it is, hot or cold, mostly cold, the turnovers are bad, but he does get some assists. The worst part is he gives up so much on defense he's just too much of a liability for the times when he actually makes a clutch shot. I think if only his defense were better, and some of his decision making, we could hold a lead better, and I could live with the rest.

Crawchuck is a shooting guard though. He is a shooting guard that Nate tried to make into a point guard. Mo is supposedly a point guard, but he's not a very good one.

I have called him Mo Chuck a few times in here already.

I got lambasted for it though, so I stopped
You did? I've called him that since the first week of the season. Come to think of it, I got called on it once, early. But mostly I think people just ignore me. You, my friend, are too big to miss! ;)

Once we get CJ McCollum back, I would dangle Mo and Meyers Leonard for a legitmate big man.

Getting a center is a must to even make playoffs at this point. It's a BIG problem. Blazers should call about Asik asap

22-5 and the team is apparently barely able to make the playoffs at this point.

I wonder if you actually understand how trades work. to get Asik would deplete the team of the bench, so it'd be even worse than it is now. OR they'd have to trade a starter + bench players, again, depleting the team of players.

So I'm not sure how Asik would win them anymore games if the bench is similar to last years anemic bench. Sure, he'd be better than what they potentially traded (NOW) but he's not the savior of a season.

He's just this seasons overrated "must have".

We could easily grab a Hawes or Brass for young pieces. I truly think Philly is the team we can trade for. Possibly have a third team involved and young can be the piece for that team.

I would love to do a three team with Toronto and Philly, sending wright, mo, claver, Barton and Leonard for Hawes and Lowry.

Philly would get Mo, claver and Leonard.

Toronto gets Young, Barton and Wright.

Having a bench of T. Rob, Leonard, Hawes, CJ, Crabbe and Lowry would propel us into contention!

Then this summer we would still have full MLE to grab another free agent.

3-way between Philly/Portland/Toronto

Why Philly does it? They are tanking and Hawes will be gone this season. Also, Young asked to be traded. The players they get back are all young and perfect for team "tank".

Why does Toronto do it? Trading Lowry for Young is a lateral move in terms of talent, but they just traded for a good PG. It was rumored Lowry is on the block, so this swap looks good on paper.

Why does Portland do it? It's actually a "no-brainer". Mo and Wright are the only players we have that get minutes. Lowry is a huge upgrade over Mo and Hawes is an upgrade over Wright. The scraps are players that don't even play many minutes, so there are no issues with chemistry.
