Getting run over.

I hope nothing is wrong and you are good to go. That sucks. But, contact your insurance/Dr (does it count under auto, or straight health?) either way..... get the proper care and don't be like my dumb-ass friend who tore his ankle ligament and never went in to get an MRI (and now can't run).

How do you go from bicyclists riding their bikes in the bike lane to ruling the road? :dunno:
Because you were talking about bicyclists being hit by motorists, and if any of them were the idiots I've seen running their stop signs on the spring water trail as if they don't apply to them then I wouldn't have too much sympathy. In fact I often see bicyclists run stop signs out on the road, but it's a whole new level of stupid when they run them at a cross section where cars don't have to stop.

There are definitely drivers who shouldn't be driving, I've seen cyclists who shouldn't be cycling... Amazing how entitled people can feel when they are out there with cars and just a tiny bicycle.

Sorry you got hit....glad you're ok...lucky it was a Civic....so many worse cars to get hit by ...my son got broadsided by a motorcycle running a red light while driving his old Civic....they dent pretty easy

this. i got hit at work on a golf cart by a fucking retard texting and not paying attention...

thing that really urked me in my accident was dude pulled over across the intersection and immediately starter trying to pop the dent out of his fender...

So the golf cart's fender was bent at your workplace. I was picturing a company vehicle the size of a forklift either inside a warehouse, the building grounds, or the parking lot, but then you said it was at an intersection. Now I think it was a golf cart with fenders speeding through an walking intersection inside a very busy golf course, probably just before the 9-hole with an artificial green hill obstructing the view.

i was crossing an intersection at work. not a golf course, we used golf carts to give old and injured people rides (hospital). he turned left into me from the head on. the golf cart had giant flashing orange lights on it. impossible to miss unless you're texting. i heard him speed up before he hit me so he wasnt even looking up.

Did you make sure he got a moving citation? Who did the policeman decide was at fault, after you called the police?

Cyclists more often than not will eventually hurt themselves when disregarding the rules of the road and take their chance by doing so. I agree. No sympathy for that kind of idiocy.

Motorists on the other hand have the power to hurt more than themselves. I've seen people disfigured and disabled for life even though they followed the rules of the road. As bodyman said in a post, I'm now a little paranoid about certain situations.

He was at fault. the person going straight has the right of way. He even had the sign left turn yield to oncomming traffic to remind him. i made bank.

Threads nkt about me though. hope the OP lawyers up and hopefully finds the scumbag that hit and run. and definitely hope he's ok. with the blazers looking like a train wreck we dont need the fans getting smashed too.

Something saved you. Either you hit his fender, or he hit your Fender.

We both hit the fenders .

Thats fucked up man.
I was all reading this and like, hmm. cool ThePrunes a tough cat. But then I read you led with your...

And I have to say man. That's pretty weak. I wold toss my body in FRONT of my Fender. Not toss my Fender in front of my body....

On the serious, glad to hear your okay. That truly sucks man. If you got a license plate you should absolutely report it.

at first i felt like a scumbag getting a lawyer, but you have to remember this is america and this is why insurance companies exist. because we are all scumbags. it wouldnt have been fair for me to have to foot the bill for my recovery though, so just do it. a lawyer may be able to get access to a camera or something you didnt even know was there

You did the equivalent of calling the police. It appears the only loss the guy suffered was that his insurance paid your medical bill. Too bad he didn't get a ticket for texting while driving. Even without witnesses, the reason to call in authority is, as you say, a video camera may have been a witness.

(I'm not a fan of the legal system, but in traffic matters they are efficient.)

I have been there and it is not fun. When I was 15 I was crossing powell at about 53rd or so. I was crossing on one of those unmarked crosswalks without a light. The cars in the first lane had stopped for me. There was about a dozen cars behind it, so I couldn't see the other lane. I crossed knowing the cars in the first lane were waiting, trying to be curtious. I figured hey, if there is a car in the other lane, they will see 12 cars stopped, use logic, and come to the conclusion that some one was crossing the street. Nope.

I got hit by a car going 30 mph...wemt over the hood, somehow broke off the driver's side mirror, flipped and landed ass first on the back door leaving an add print before I bounced off hit the ground and somehow my body naturally tucked itself into a roll....I was told this by my friends who were crossing behind me, as I blacked out till after I hit the ground and rolled. I crawled to the side of the road.

The car stopped up ahead several feet. The driver gets out, a woman, looks at her car, looks at me, looks back at her car, looks at me and says I shit you not "Oh my God my car!"

I didn't break any bones somehow but I was bruised to fuck. And I'll tell you it is not fun. So @theprunetang I am sorry man, and that they drove off is even more so fucked. I did sue (my parents did on my behest) had a crappy lawyer, so I got my hospital bills paid, but that is about it.

Lets just say when I cross the street these days I don't fuck around.

Damn Chris! The doctors will (or did) probably tell you that blacking out more than likely saved your life. It is instinctual when you are hit like that to tense up all your muscles, leaving your body stiff and very "breakable", but when you are passed out, or loopy(drunk) your body is flexible and rolls with things much easier and thus the force of the impact is decreased. I only know this from when I hit a girl in Colorado who was on the highway trying to kill herself and jumped out in front of me. I think we talked about it before?
Anyhow, the docs told me because she was so drunk and passed out, she came out of it unharmed. Rolled over the top of my car at 50 miles an hour and didn't break a bone. and who says alcohol is bad for you? Lol.

I would never throw my Fender in front of a car. I've owned it for 17 years!

Yeah, they told me that....so did the patamedics...said I was lucky I blacked out...i didn't feel anything until I hit the ground and came too...just felt like I was floating in darkness...thought I had died...i remember thinking to myself in my blackout (not sure how that's possible, but anyway) that I had died...i was like do this death...this is what it feels like...then I hit the road and came to, experiencing the most pain I have ever experienced...then fuck I'm alive...I'M ALIVE! Ouch

Your situation sounds scary as fuck. I'm pretty fortunate that things ended up the way they did. I'm feeling blessed. I'm also lucky that I was able to walk home afterwards. I feel better today actually and my knee is no longer popping or hurting much at all. They should have made Oden out of me. We would have a championship!

his insurance paid for a lot more than medical bills. :blazerwookie:
