It seems to me the way to get championships for our Blazer squad will be to get the ball inside. From there Oden or Aldridge can decide to get points or kick out for an open shot, but as a team they need to learn to get the ball inside consistently.

For this to happen, the Blazers need a few things. A one on one guy on the outside to draw players out, thats Roy, and he is great. Outside shooting to open up room on the inside, this has been Rudy, Blake and Outlaw. Someone who is good at feeding the post, this has been a problem. Someone who is good at pick and rolls, inconsistent here. A slasher would also be nice.

So, we already have Roy, Oden and Aldridge set in the starting lineup. I don't really care if the ball is being fed by a PG or a point forward like turk, but one of the PG/SF needs to be able to do this. The other needs to be able to shoot the long ball. Hopefully, those players would also be able to do more than just that, like pick and roll, slash.

the reason I bring this up is that we need the two players being brought in to match. For example, Marion would be good at passing and slashing, but not that great at shooting. He would be a bad match to pair up with Kidd for example, or sessions, since they would also be best at passing but would not be very good at spreading the floor.

It is more important to get two players that match the team needs as it is to get the two best players if they overlap eachother or would get in the way of Roy.

Also, at least one of the players must be good on D.

But if this team is really going to compete in the future, they must put our bigs first. Get them the ball is the right situations and this can be a contending team.

I think the best PG/SF pair for the Blazers is Miller and Artest. Miller can feed the post, pick and roll and score mid range. Artest can lock down D, shoot the long ball and slash. Good mix of abilities.

Don't you mean...get a new coach? For a half-court offense of a coach he sure doesn't run a lot of low post offense.

Some of the fault lays on Nate, but a lot of the problem in the past in feeding the post is that we did not have a good distributor. Blake can't get the ball inside, and Sergio can only seem to do it when the team is running. Miller, Kidd and Sessions would all be much better at actually feeding the post. As would Turk. We can't blame it all on Nate since he just did not have the right tools in his toolbox to get the job done. Quite frankly, I am impressed that he was able to get us as many wins as we had. But in the playoffs, getting the ball inside becomes that much more important.

hedo would seem like a more effective passer from the high post but I think there needs to be fundamental changes to the offense, we just seem to run so many pick and rolls.
