Honestly I am not sure going for that Mega star is the answer unless there is someone unhappy that we are not thinking of on a team maybe bounced early etc.. After reading some of these posts I am starting to change my mind not saying NO but it's losing steam in my head atm.

Also if we are looking for the next Deni there are not that many out there -- Trey Murphy but I do not think the Pels are trading him but who else ??
We know Giannis is unhappy. I think Booker is unhappy. Lauri probably is but he's not getting out from under Ainge unless the return is asinine.

If you get Giannis, I think it's more likely the Blazers would move for Trey if they can't get a Booker.

Good first post, and welcome to RC2.
Thanks! I've been lurking for a couple of weeks, so I decided to jump in. The community seems cool here, I don't know how I didn't find this place earlier.

I'm a Portlander born and raised. Still live here in my mid-20s now, so the Roy & Aldridge years are my formative Blazers memories.

Run while you have the chance!
Err, I mean, welcome.

Jrue, Scoot, Kris make up the salary. Throw in picks necessary.

You're seriously asking me why the Blazers would be interested in trading for Booker?

Uh. What?
Im seriously doubting that they'd be able to make a trade for both

Bucks would be nuts not to accept this offer.

Houston Rockets receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo

Milwaukee Bucks receive: Alperen Şengün, Reed Sheppard, Dorian Finney-Smith, 2027 first-round pick (via PHX), 2028 first-round pick, 2030 first-round pick, 2032 first-round pick

I'd say the Rockets would be even more stupid to make that offer. After all, trading for Durant worked out so well for them....not

Weird to think of starting Dame, Booker, Deni, Giannis and a better version of Donovan. Might be pretty good. Get rid of Shaedon, Scoot, Robert, Kris, Matisse....Leaving Toumani, Sidy, Vit, Yang and Love as the backups. I think this has the pieces of a great team. 3 of the 5 bench players there can shoot and maybe Sidy can work on his three and bring it up to 35%.
I forgot to mention Holiday and Grant. I think we would trade them, too if we could get Booker and Giannis. I don't really like Booker, but I might be able to accept him if he played well and he matured more and dropped the bitchy facial expressions. Maybe we keep Holiday, forget about Booker and get somebody like Kennard to add.

@julius

I don't think it's a stretch to use the Milwaukee picks we own, Grant, Holiday, Sharpe, Henderson, Thybulle, Williams and Murray for the Freak and Book.

That might even be an overpay.

Having Dame and Book shooting the lights out from 3 would be fun.

We don't have WIlliams or Thybulle under contract so they aren't really assets that factor in. Grant is a negative asset on his current contract. Holiday is not particularly valuable to a rebuilding team like Milwaukee or Phoenix in this scenario. I don't think we have the ammunition to get it done. These are both top 15 guys. We would completely raid our draft capital and probably have to unload Deni and Clingan as well.

Not even worth it in my opinion, I don't really like Booker basketball and would rather ride it out with most of our young core + Dame and maybe one more piece.

Booker isn't going anywhere. PHX owner has committed to Book & Book is happy in PHX -> for better or worse.

I'm all for keeping most of who we have and hoping our guys keep improving and make some breakout strides. I was kind of playing devil's advocate for those who are for trying to snag big stars.

I would be fine with running it back.

Playing devil's advocate......if one gets hurt (or resting), you still have the other. And since injuries are a huge part of the game, it ain't bad to have two of them.

Plus, Giannis can play some backup center with his size. Important if Williams leaves. The bottom line is that as long as you have 3 shooters on the floor surrounding them, it can work.

That said, I am not a huge fan of Giannis' contract.
Exactly. And when we have both, we can stagger them so we always have a superstar on the floor.

Can’t believe so many people don’t want Giannis regardless of trade details. Giannis has been a Top 5 MVP vote getter the last SEVEN years and had the best PER of his career this year. We don’t have a chance in hell of beating OKC or SA without a player of Giannis’ caliber. It’s like people are so used to losing that they don’t even know what a winning roster looks like.

Giannis doesnt equate to winning for the future. He did in the past.

Fact, not opinion.

Typical Blazer fans. Thinking their guys will be better than Hall of Famers.

AD is a bad fit and arguably a negative asset at this point. Giannis is also a clunky fit with Deni will derail our current roster timeline. It's still tempting just because the Blazers have not been a legitimate title threat in 25 years (unless you want to count 2019), and I think that Jerami & Shae for Giannis would give us like a 10% chance to win a title next year. But ultimately I don't feel Giannis is worth it.

Kawhi is actually the aging star on a mediocre team that could lead our current group to a title in my opinion. Injuries are obviously a concern. I have no clue what the price would be or if Kawhi would even be open to it. All of that makes it very unlikely. But there's also a world where Kawhi has one more top 5 season left in him, he can shoot, he can defend, and we are his Raptors 2.0. Kawhi, Deni, Dame, Tou, Jrue is an elite core. Assuming we were healthy, I think that group could go toe to toe with San Antonio, OKC, and Boston.

I know that a Kawhi deal is more complicated, whereas there is a legitimate path to getting Giannis. But in a vacuum I think I prefer Kawhi's fit.
I can’t think of a single team for which AD is a bad fit. If healthy. Did you watch the 2020 playoffs? Also the 23-24 season. He’s better than Camara, Deni, and Clingan.

Welcome. Game 3 Rodney Hood was awesome. 4OT!!

If we get Kawhi, then we should definitely go after Giannis to play with him. Not one or the other.

I really appreciate your doubts. I think the Blazers have enough ammo to go after two stars. If Giannis is in, it becomes infinitely easier. I don't like Leonard or Davis as gambles due to health.

Might as well go for it.
