Won't post it on the Giants board because as we know, nobody ever posts anything on that board.

If the walnut size brain of Reese could understand the concept of trading down to acquire extra picks, I would attempt to do the following.

Trade back to 12 with the Browns.

Trade 9th overall, Giants second round pick

for

12th overall and 19th overall

There is a good chance the Rams will take the second highest WR after the Giants. Their WR core sucks. Browns need to jump ahead of them. Browns IMO are going to trade Gordon. They have had enough of that idiot. I don't see them getting any more than a 2nd for him with his stupid behavior off the field. Browns might not want to do this but they will because the Giants are going to tell them that they have a deal to swap picks at 15 with 49's. The 49's need a WR so bad it's sad.

With the 12th pick the Giants can still draft a tackle. Take either Flowers or Ogbuhei. Then with the 19th pick take either Thompson, Hendricks or McKinney. The Giants badly need a young, stud ILB. Our LB's not only suck, they are stupid and have no ability to stop slants or running QB's. It's only been going on for almost 5 years now.

Going into next year with a new ILB and OT is a huge plus. I would also see what kind of offers Cruz could field which is probably unthinkable to most Giants fans. I do not think the Giants are dreaming about Beckham and Cruz. I think the Giants don't want to pay 2 WR's a ton of money down the line. I also don't think they want to have Cruz and Beckham fighting for balls. I think they want Randle to take the second WR spot and then develop a third WR. If Cruz checks out health wise with other teams, they should be able to get at the least a 2nd this year and a 3rd next year. Unlike Gordon, he's a class guy with no off the field baggage.

I would think a team like the Colts with their crap offensive talent would easily do that deal. Giants have an excellent eye for WR talent. Coughlin is top notch at that. I'm sure he could find a nice WR in a deep draft for WR's with that second round pick.

If Kiwi doesn't retire he will be released freeing up about 5 million off the cap. Rolle is gone freeing up about 9 million off the cap. Walton will be let go taking 2.5 off the cap as Richburg will be moved to center. Beason probably won't be brought back saving 3 million off the cap. I'm sure they will do something interesting with Manning's contract to give them 8-10 more million in cap room. If it came down to having money to sign JPP or keeping Cruz, I think they deal Cruz to free up 8 million off the cap. They have a generation talent at WR now in Beckham and a guy who should be a fantastic number 2 in Randle if he finally wakes up. They have nobody to replace JPP.

My call is JPP and Rolle are back. Not 100% about that, but I feel almost 100% that at least one will be back for sure...and I say both gun to my head. 100000000000000000% lock Cruz is back. Take an OL with the first pick at 9. If no OL is worth it at # 9 take a DE or LB. It is about time they add a real LB. Enough of the BS we can plug anyone in at LB.

To me OL, LB, DE are the needs for this team and should be addressed accordingly. Go OL at # 9 for sure unless there is no one there worth that high of a pick.

There is NO WAY they are bringing back Rolle for a multitude of reasons.

1. He's old and looks it.
2. His speed is gone.
3. His play sucked this year in general
4. He'll want money he isn't worth

With guys like JPP and Rolle it all depends on the offers they get elsewhere. If Miami for example blows Rolle away, I agree he'll be gone. If some random team blows JPP away, he may be gone also.

JPP is interesting to me because as you said we really have no one to replace him, and when he is on and playing at top level he is a clear stud. BUT on the flip side I worry giving a guy like that big money and big years could demotivate him and have him play less than 100%, which we have seen some of already. Maybe the best way to handle JPP, unless a reasonable deal can be struck, is to franchise him and let him play next season and prove he is worth a huge long term deal. I am not sure we can afford to lose JPP.

Overall the skill positions the Giants are solid. A WR trio of Cruz, OBJ, and Randle is very good. Donnell is okay as a TE and should get better as he learns more. Williams and Jennings are a solid RB duo. So on O to me it is ALL about the OL. Add a high 1st rounder to Richburg and Pugh and now you have a nice base on the OL. Shore that up this summer, and we have been saying that for 3 years now so who knows if they can do it, and the Giants O should be very good.

On D we have question marks. JPP and Rolle back? The secondary looks solid at CB with Prince and DRC. If Rolle leaves we need a S. If JPP leaves we need a DE even more than we already do. We badly need a LB IMO. And we can use another DE if Kiwi is done, and he should be.

So on O give me a very good OL and we are set. On D we have work to do, and that's with JPP and Rolle back. If both or either of those guys leave we have a lot of work to do on D.

Agree that OL, LB and DE are needs. I would also throw FS and SS up there. Rolle isn't the answer at SS. He's done.

Cowboys have two LB's potentially FA's in Carter and McClain that are pretty decent. Houston on the Chiefs with his 22 sacks is a UFA. Gee, you think he'll get paid? Graham from the Eagles is a FA. Hughes is a FA DE from the bills with 9.5 sacks this season. Not a lot out there from what I can see.

I like the idea of trading for extra picks, but I do not see them using an early pick on a LB at all. They are very high on Kennard. McClain had a good season playing out of position. And Beason does not have an injury history and I expect him back full strength next year. With those 3 starters I see no reason to use a top pick on a LB. Maybe a later one for depth. That's a pretty good LB core.

I see needs as OL, DL and S. We need a S even of Rolle comes back, Demps is not an NFL starter and Brown was a flash in the pan last year.

Go a beast DE first pick, S second pick, sign a S and Iupati from SF to play guard with Schwartz, move Richburg to C and this team is not far away.

There is no way they can take a DE first. They HAVE to draft a LT and move Beatty to the right side. Beatty for the most part sucks as a LT. He would be fine as a RT. Beatty also has no ability to be a run blocker. He's a huge reason our run game sucks. We need a franchise LT. Move Pugh to G, Richburg to C and get Schwartz back and they might actually be able to run the freakin ball.

Our LB core blows. The Giants were very high on Williams at LB and then he turned into garbage. Beason also is a big cap hit if they keep him. They need to draft a LB. I think they will throw good money at a UFA DE. D. Moore has a ton of ability as a DE. No reason to draft one who isn't a sure thing early. Especially if they can sign a sure thing in FA.

I agree with Dump. The #1 priority has to be the line. You shore up that offensive line and the offense can be deadly next season. Look at what Dallas did with one of the best lines in football this year.

Also, Ayers looked great before he got hurt. I think the Giants will clearly think that they are OK with JPP signed, Moore, Ayers and a FA signing at DE. They probably will address DE next year in the draft.

Beatty makes way too much money to be a RT if we're going to get a different franchise LT. I think he's fine there, the interior 3 are more important than the tackles in the run game. We couldn't run the ball because Johm Jerry was so bad it was laughable and Walton was average at best. Only the Giants would draft the top rated C and then play him every game at a position other than C.

Doesn't matter what Beatty is paid. His contract is his contract. You put him where it makes sense. RT. He is not a LT.

People also forget DE's take some time. Tuck didn't break out to his third year. Osi who I never like as much as some, broke out with 7 sacks in his second year. Strahan took several years to reach his full potential. D. Moore has a ton of ability. Right now he's stupid. If he can get a little smarter and a little stronger, he can be a legit pass rusher in the league.

Agree. Drafting a potential franchise left tackle fixes the entire OL in one move. Beatty moves to right tackle. Pugh moves to right guard. Richburg moves to center. Schwartz comes back at LG. Line fixed.

Then they can start to fix the complete crap LB and safety units.

Like I said at the start of this thread, draft the best OL you can at # 9 and then focus on D. To me the formula should be simple. The O is right there. Shore up the OL with a top 10 pick and the O should be set (maybe sign an OL in FA for depth). The D needs a lot more work, especially if you lose Rolle and/or JPP.

As I mentioned, and Mess did as well, I can see JPP getting the franchise tag to buy one more year on him before making a big commitment (unless he is willing to sign a solid deal but not break the bank now).

Thought about the franchise tag. They'll lock him up and quick. They have a lot of money coming off the books. I figure 6 years, 50 million, 35 guaranteed. Then on to the next guy.

Problem is that there are some severely overpaid DE's. Even Watt is overpaid. He's great but he got QB money. Absurd. So did Mario Williams. Unfortunately, JPP will want 12 million a year most likely. That's going to be tough to swallow. Perhaps if they gave him 6 y, 60 million it would get it done. I say no more than 9 million a season.

It's well known that Suh wants to play in NY. I wouldn't touch that guy for the money he will want. Hankins had 1 less sack than he did this year and he's not an A-Hole. I figure even without Eli working his contract, with the cuts projected, they will have about 31 million in cap room. Figure worst case scenario, 12 million for JPP which I hope it isn't. Now you are down to 19. Sign Thurmond, Brown, Williams, Hynoski, Bowman, Donnell, Fells and Jerry. That's about 10 more off the cap. Down to 9. Williams sucks at LB but he's good on special teams.

Looking at the cap, I'm still not ruling out if they get the right offer they move Cruz. With an upgraded offensive line, do you really need Cruz with Beckham, Randell and another quality 3 WR. I don't think so.

That's the point on JPP. If we can get a reasonable deal done I would sign it now. Issue is he will want the world, and that is when I'd franchise him and buy a year.

Player trades rarely happen in the NFL. Not to mention there's no chance you want to give up on a possible Beckham and Cruz tandom. Randell is too inconsistent and Parker hasn't shown enough.

I think with pick 9 is either OL or DE only. Beatty actually had a pretty good year after sucking last year and I think if Giants don't resign JPP a DE is the first pick with a RT or G taken in the second round. If JPP signs then I think one of those LT's could be in play. As much as I'd like a linebacker I've become used to Reese never taking one early and this year will be no different. In third rd I see a safety taken which we will have a big need for as I don't see rolle resigning or possibly a linebacker. ( Sure would have been nice last year if Reese took Borland with our 3rd pick who went 2 picks after we took a projected 6th rd DT from syracuse who sat on the bench all year for us). Unfortunately, Reese always stands pat (never trades and never as far as I know has moved back in a draft) so I don't really expect that to change. Sounds like the "Teflon Tom will be back again" as missing the playoffs 5 out of the last 6 years an even the super bowl year they barely made them at 9-7 will not be enough to get us a new coach. Sounds like the only bone thrown to the giants fans will be few ell thankfully fired and an aggressive DC like Spags hired as out new DC.

Unless they feel there is a LT that is can't miss at 9, they should trade back. I'd love to do the deal I proposed with the Browns. However, I think they stand a much better chance of trading back to 15 with the 49's, getting their second round pick so the 49's can draft one of the top 3 WR's. They aren't bringing Crabtree back.


Yes, trades are rare but I think San Fran might pull a couple off. Keeping Vernon Davis makes no sense for them since their QB is an idiot and has no clue how to use him.
If they can't find a team dumb enough to take Kapernick, they might cut him. A 9 million cap hit is better than 17 to 21 which is what he will be doing the next 4-5 years.

do not upgrade the Offense line, TE & RB, Manning will continue
to flounder with what they have presently.

That # 9 pick HAD BETTER BE a LT.......ONLY.

Fewell needs to be dismissed as DC.

There is very little talent on the present roster.

I agree about the defense but the hate Beatty is getting from the fanbase is completely undeserved. PFF had him ranked the fourth best LT in the NFC in pass blocking. Not necessarily elite, but far from the liability everyone is making him out to be. I'm not sure what he was ranked in run blocking, but you do not look for your LT to be your best run blocker. They are paid to protect the QB's blindside, and he did a very servicable job at that while coming off of a serious injury. No reason to go out and get a new LT, whether by high pick or FA, when there are many other holes to fill such as safety, guard and the DL.

Upgrade the interior line by getting Walton and Jerry out of there and they will be in very good shape.

There is plenty of talent on the roster. They have a franchise QB. Perhaps the best 3 WR set in football if Cruz comes back healthy. They have a RB in Williams that could be a terror if the offensive line learns to run block. JPP is one of the better DE's. Richburg at center and Pugh at guard could make the pro-bowl. They played out of position. D. Moore has a lot of upside. Prince was on his way to making the pro-bowl then he got hurt. DRC will be much better playing with Prince. Hankins is turning into a stud DT.

They need LT, OLB, ILB, FS and SS. Then the team will be pretty damn strong.
