Give me Bayless!!!

I want to see Bayless play more too. That is why I like Miller and Blake starting.

As long as Pritchard professes his man-love for Blake, Bayless will never get off the bench.

Blake will be gone by next season..........if not sooner.

I'm not entirely panicking about our horrid start but I need me some Bayless! Blake is very one dimensional out there, because all he can do is shoot the ball. He cant pass, has no court vision, cant penetrate, cant defend, and he's slow. He's a backup at best. Give Bayless some time and who says he cant be a good shooter? He can stay in front of his man better than Blake. He's also athletic and penetrates the defense with the best of them. He's not a very good passer yet, but Blake isn't either. I cringe everytime I see Blake run a fastbreak. Today for example, 3 on 2 Blazers advantage and we end up with nothing. This also leads to my issue with Miller. He knows how to run a fastbreak but he cant shoot worth a damn. I now understand why he's such a horrible shooter, his shooting form is downright ugly. Maybe the critics were right, Miller may not be a good fit after all.

Note to Mcmillan, let the centers foul out at least if your not going to let them play :ohno:

Bayless is just not a point guard. As evident tonight - he can't dribble the ball! He truly can penetrate - but outside of that, he can't play PG.

We have Roy, Rudy and Webster - all who play off-guard - so what is the point hanging on to Bayless?

Bayless has some skills that are superior: his ability to get to the rack and his ability to draw fouls.

I am not convinced he will be a PG, but I think there's still a pretty good chance that he could evolve into one. If he can play the PG spot defensively, that would be enough for him to flourish with this team.

Remeber Bayless hasn't played all year. You could see him pressing a little. Give him a couple of games to settle down. Personally I like what I see and think he's the perfect compliment to Roy at PG in about 2 years.

This pretty much echoes my thoughts about him at this point ... that said it's possible he could become at least passable at the position, never a CP3 or a pure playmaker, but he's got the work ethic if not the vision. I'd like to say time will tell, but I'm guessing time will see him gone.

In a lineup with another combo guard like Rudy or Roy, I think Bayless can shine. He's a *ahem* Miller Lite. If we can prove Miller and Roy can co-exist, then it's easier to presume that Bayless can co-exist with Roy.

I don't trust your opinion for squat. Can't dribble, yet can penetrate?

I could see that, and maybe eventually make Roy the PG who brings the ball up, while Jerryd is just Jerryd and plays off the ball, or both could bring the ball up. I'd love to see a lineup with Roy, Jerryd and Rudy at the same time with LA and Greg down low.

I liked what Jerryd brought tonight, and he'll be a good player in this league eventually.

I wasn't sure if Bayless could handle his role on this team, given his history of basically being the best player on every team he's played for, and his intense personality. But even after 5 DNP-CD's, he came out tonight and brought it. In 5 minutes he got to the line I think 4 times? I was very encouraged by what I saw from Bayless tonight, and in the future I do think he will be a great fit next to Roy. Remember this kid supposedly made 30 NBA 3's in a row in one of his pre-draft workout. He CAN shoot, and I think the more he plays the more his FG% will climb.

If Bayless can play like tonite, Blake is gone soon.

I love JB - but I am not sure I agree. He brought the ball up, and attacked the rim - but in the half-court sets the one that seemed like he was trying to set others was Rudy, not JB.

What I wonder is if JB is the one that will eventually replace Rudy on this team.

...so far, Bayless is a lesser version of J.Jack :dunno:

True. But, he is young and he does need playtime which is hard to get on a team with Roy, Blake, Miller and Rudy as the other guards, especially when you consider that Web can play some 2 as well.

Jack had more opportunity in his first half season than Bayless has received thus far in over a year. Don't let that cloud your judgment... Wait, it already has.

...I followed a lot of pac-10 ball as well, so my judgement includes those clouds as well . I truly hope he comes around, but I don't think he has the right mentality to be a PG...and his shot doesn't fall very often

What does being a PG have to do with being a "lesser" version of Jarrett Jack? And if you follow college ball so closely, why was it not obvious to you that Bayless was light years ahead of Jack when comparing their freshman seasons?

Bayless shot 40.7 percent from 3-point-range as a freshman in a very deep Pac-10. Give him a chance to get comfortable in a lineup(he has yet to be afforded that chance) and I'm sure his shooting will open your eyes.

LMAO! You talk about all the tools necessary for a PG, and have an avatar of one of the lamest "fundamental" PGs ever to wear a Blazer uniform. Kinda made me laugh.
