We’ll be staying at my buddy’s house in Palm Springs. Need to decide if we should rent a room in Pasadena for that night.

Considering it's about a 2 hour drive back to Palm Springs and about a 2 hour wait to get out of the Rose Bowl (I was there a few years ago after a soccer game that had around 90,000 people) and getting out of there was a nightmare and glad we had a hotel room in Pasadena.
