Or 12 Draymond technicals away, lols. We're a Curry sprained hamstring away from getting the 5th pick.
It would be just our luck that GS actually wins the lottery or goes top 3 if that happened.
Me too, I would be sweating bullets. I’d personally want a pick at #10, that would be the sweet spot for me.We want this pick right aroudn 8-10 because any higher and we'll be sweating it out on lotto day. Yeah we want this pick in the top 14 but we don't want the odds too high so it moves up and we have to wait for next season to use it. Luckily the protections on this pick benefit us and they have a weaker protection next draft and no protection the draft after that.
You’re ultimately correct, that there’s nothing to sweat about, as it pertains to getting a pick. But it’s better to get a certain lotto pick than for the team to keep their pick and turn it around and make the playoffs next season. At that point, being top 1 unprotected doesn’t matter because the pick will be beyond #15. I’d rather have a guaranteed pick between #10-14.There is nothing to be sweating about. The pick eventually becomes completely unprotected in 2026. It doesn't turn into 2nd round picks like in some trades.
"Golden State's 1st round pick to Portland protected for selections 1-4 in 2024 and 1 in 2025 and unprotected in 2026."
If the Warriors are bad this season and end up 6th-10th worst record-wise and somehow get pick 1-4, they could be even worse next season.
I am rooting for Golden State to be as bad as possible.
so far they have avoided serious injury, given their key players ages a significant injury could easily happenI'd prefer they have the worst record in the NBA - it would be a coin flip we get the #5 pick.
Highly doubt their actually that bad. I'm just pointing out it's fine to root for them to lose every game.
Yeah, due to the pick being guaranteed to convey me saying "sweating it out" was pretty dramatic. I'd like to be sure on lotto day that we get a lotto pick out of the Warriors but I'm obviously not too worried about if it conveys in this draft or next draft. You’re ultimately correct, that there’s nothing to sweat about, as it pertains to getting a pick. Disagree, I'd prefer this pick is #1: still a coin flip we get that 5th pick.We want this pick right aroudn 8-10 because any higher and we'll be sweating it out on lotto day. This is the way. There is nothing to be sweating about. The pick eventually becomes completely unprotected in 2026. It doesn't turn into 2nd round picks like in some trades.

How did we get their pick again?
Trade with Boston I believeHow did we get their pick again?
How did we get their pick again?
Thanks, yeah I remember it had been passed around before we got it but couldn't remember exactly how.I believe the Warriors traded the pick to Memphis, who traded it to Boston (with Washington included in that trade dump) back a few seasons ago. And now it got traded to Portland from Boston, for Jrue.
Prot. 1-4
trade 1: GS/MEM Iggy salary dump
trade 2: MEM/WAS/BOS KP/Smart
trade 3: POR/BOS Jrue trade
Given that next years draft is better than this year and everyone on the warriors will be another year older, it would not the worst thing in the world to have a top 1 protected pick next year for a team led by a 36 year old and 2 washed supporting cast members.
It's important GSW stays around .500. Don't get too greedy... The NBA could shuffle the draft cards if the Warriors end up in the 7th or 8th slot. Oh... sorry Portland, the Warriors get to keep their top 4 rookie this summer. If GS ends up top-4, I can't imagine they will be better next year. We could get a pick in a better draft that is only top-1 protected?
No , we do not want the Warriors to be around .500.It's important GSW stays around .500. Don't get too greedy... The NBA could shuffle the draft cards if the Warriors end up in the 7th or 8th slot. Oh... sorry Portland, the Warriors get to keep their top 4 rookie this summer.
Fixed this for you.No , we do not want the Warriors to be around .500.
We want them to stink forever.
Draymond got his big contract extension. He can easily pay all the fines occurred for being a jackass.Draymond just took a weird swing with his right arm at Nurkic's head/neck, as if his arm were paralyzed/limp and swinging from his shoulder.
I suppose the idea was that he could say "I just turned my body and my arm uncontrollably flew into Nurkic."
Anyway, Flagrant 2, ejected.
