Good for Juwan ...

I am happy for him too. Great presence on the bench for the Blazers. But towards the end of the season, his age caught up with him. Perdergraf will needs those minutes this year.

Juwan showed he can still play a bit, and good for him if he goes there. It'll be sad to see him leave because he was a great mentor for Jeff and Dante. But I'm sure Camby will provide that veteran presence for LA, G.O. and the other bigs.

And it goes to show that Miami might not have to fill their roster with complete scrubs or D-Leaguers for the minimum.

Great now I can't hate the entire heat roster? Thanks Juwan...

I think I'm going to refer to Miami's NBA team from now on as the "Hessians".

Because the big three took less than the max.

I think Paul Allen should (In jest) write a letter to the Blazer fans ripping Howard for stabbing us in the back and taking the easy way out in going to Miami.

As long as it's in comic sans 20 pt font

Howard had a PER of 10 at age 36. I am not sure he's going to do any better at age 37.

Ed O.

Well, on the bright side we'll get to see how Pendergraph and Cunningham develop.

He wont retire until he wins a ring I bet. Miami seems to be the right place to go.

why retire if someone is going to pay you a substantial sum to play hoops, travel the country and stay in deluxe hotels? Geez many of us have to pay to play and travel

I'm glad Howard isn't coming back. He had a few nice games after Joel went down, but his age quickly caught up with him as the rest of the season went along. Sure he was a nice guy, but his "veteran leadership" is greatly overstated. I'd like to see all his minutes go to Pend.

No joke, Miami should sign Reggie Miller and Glen Rice to stand in the corners and bomb!

I agree. Pendergraph needs to get over his summer league injury and take on the spot that Juwan did. We need Pendergraph to get his teammates fired up and get some aggressiveness at the basket for the rest of the team to score. Juwan wanted to go for a ring and his PER will be limited at Miami.

Juwan was the latest Ime Udoku, the emotional heart of an overachieving team. Without him we would have been much, much worse. He saved us and we reward him by kicking him off the team, in our pursuit of youth. It takes years and years to smooth out a player's rough edges and bad habits. Pendergraph, even if he has Juwan's innate talent which he doesn't, won't know what Howard knows for another 8-10 years.

And the kicker is that Howard leaving opens a spot which will go to a Summer League grad like Ibekwe. The spot is wasted unless we get something for Rudy that's better than Juwan. The only reason to fire Juwan is to give minutes to Pendergraph and Cunningham. But Howard wouldn't have complained about sitting on the bench to let them play. We let Ime go for the same reason--to develop Webster and Outlaw, the previous misdirected version of Pendergraph and Cunningham, who will end up the same.
