Who had the more disappointing end to the season, us or OKC?

OK, it's us. But it's close. OKC can at least say they had a starter out, and though most people will say that Andre Roberson wasn't the difference - he clearly was.
Roberson hurts the team in playoffs though with his atrocious free throw shooting. See last year. He made the 3 of 21 free throws.

I think the NBA likes to see a series go to six or seven games. Much more revenue from a six or seven game series, which is why they extended first round series from best of 5 to best of 7.

They just did it with OKC/Utah. Westbrook should not have been playing in that deciding game five..... but he did.

I think refs can easily control the ebb and flow of a game by putting specific players into foul trouble and calling specific violations at key moments. We have seen this repeatedly over the years. The Kings/Lakers series was probably the most obvious example, but we have seen others.

The refs almost did it to us in our series against Houston, but Dame hit a ridiculous shot that ended the series.

Are you insinuating the NBA somehow has influence over the length of series’?

I would say the team that mortgaged their future for a first round exit. By the way, we had a starter out as well.

I think Pelicans would have dismantled either one of those teams as I wasn't that impressed with either team in their series. Mitchell was amazing and reminds me a lot of Lillard, but he would have a tough time against the guard tandem at New Orleans if they employed the same game plan as they did against us.
Paul George and Russell Westbrook were guarding him that whole series..

...just in time to lose Rubio and probably get stomped by Houston.
I don't like OKC . This is especially satisfying. Ras: For the Houston series, I'll bet the Jazz actually win a game.

Although I am severely disappointed with our playoffs, I am excited to see a Sixers-Celtics series once again.

I'm not sure the answer is us?

Portland really didn't do anything to make a run, and while they finished 3rd, they overachieved.

OKC went all in, and it failed miserably.

So you don't think a team will try and sign him?. Let's check back this summer and review it then.
No, I'm asking you to give me a list of options. Because I just don't see there being a huge market. I'm not denying he's got great talent and I have dreamed about getting him in the past, but the fact that his team is playing better without him (okay, not so much last night maybe) isn't going to be a huge draw.
(Not forgetting he's coming off an injury that used to be a career-ender.)

Wes Mathews got a 17mil contract with basically the same injury. Like I said before, we will see this summer.

You know, we, in the NBA, plan out each playoff series. You really ought to attend one of our regular Wednesday meetings.

I heard it was $20 Million not $17 Million.

I heard it was $20 Million not $17 Million.

It was a 4 year 70 mil contract and it was originally a little less and when Jordan backed out so it bumped up Mathews salary.I believe it was originally around 15 mil.

I heard it was either $16 Million or $17 Million until Jordan backed out and then it went to $20 Million. Don't recall the length of the contract.

A couple of years ago I went to a Blazer Nuggets game in Denver. We blew out Denver by halftime I want to say it was something like 80 to 35. I got into some friendly banter with a couple of Denver fans there and we talked basketball in the second half more then watched since the Blazers cruised to like a 25 point win. They said that this game would be closer had Denver kept Carmelo. I told them that they were right but it was the best thing that Denver did was get rid of him, even though I think one on one Carmelo is one of the best basketball players to ever play the game he does not know how to play with teammates and will not,as long as he keeps that attitude, will he ever win a championship. I put Russ Westbrook in that same category. Which is why KD went to the Warriors. My advice to the Thunder is keep PG pay the Luxury tax and trade Russ just as fast as you can before other teams figure out that he aint worth it. As far as Carmelo goes after the season he put up he better not opt out since I do not think he will get the money that he wants and that this next year will probably be his last. His ego is too big to allow himself to sit on a bench for vet min.
Disappointing season has to be the Thunder. Under achieved in regular season and playoffs and I am not buying Roberson being injured is the reason they lost.
We slightly over achieved during the regular season in a tough western conference and had a disappointing sweep in the playoffs

Yeah, the same guys guarded Lillard during the season when we swept OKC 4 straight.
So you think.. because Lillard did well against OKC during the regular season (he did well against the Pels in the RS too), and because Mitchell had success against bigger and better defenders in Westbrook and PG in the playoffs, that somehow, Mitchell would've struggled against the Pelicans? Am I following that correctly?

Never said that. Read what I wrote and leave it at that.

I'm saying that New Orleans wouldn't have been able to run the same defense because Mitchell doesnt run much pick n roll, because the Jazz pass, cut, drive, and dish at a decent rate, and because Mitchell is used off the ball more (at least when Rubio plays).

One thing we know for sure and that's nobody knows how a Pelicans Jazz series would play out so projecting results means nothing.

Would have been awesome to see that this year, and have them play for the Jazz naming rights. Hehe.

Now that would have been interesting. Then Utah would have to become the Pelicans?, lol
