Gordon Hayward wants out of Utah

He'd be our new batum with his inconsistencies in relation to the amount of money he's making. :MARIS61:

If Utah did indeed turn down #3 from Boston, then no, we do not have the pieces.
Unless Utah specifically wants veterans rather than draft picks. Obviously we don't deal CJ, but does Aminu/Plumlee get you in the neighborhood?

Number 3 isn't that great this year because of the perceived fall off after #1 and #2. Also, Boston has a ton of undersized guards and at #3, that is about what you are going to get so it's not as valuable to them either.

Not if I'm Utah.
If he wants out, and only has one year left on his deal, what do you think they expect to receive for him (assuming they don't want draft picks)?

The opt-out after next year is the concern for both Utah and the team acquiring him. I'm sure they don't want to go through another Deron Williams situation even though they got what most thought was decent return for Williams at the time.

Kevin Love?
That's a fascinating consideration. Not sure how well he fits there with Favors and Gobert already anchoring their frontcourt, but at the very least they get multiple more years. Plus, Utah'd probably love him, 'cause, well...you know.

Well done sir--well done indeed!

Another reason to like Hayward here: Introducing Robyn Hayward.

A starting 5 of Dame-CJ-Hayward-Howard-Leonard is very interesting in my opinion. Gives a defender to put next to Meyers. And Howard and Leonard won't standing next to each other in the paint on the offensive end. But how could we get there?

A resigned Crabbe + Aminu + Plumlee + CLE pick could be enough? If so I am not to worried of the opt out of his contract. Just give him the envy to stay by making a good team around him. If he liked Portland he'll stay.

Favors obviously gets traded to us for the injured guy, Plumlee and Aminu

Then we simply sign Horford and a defensive SF and call it an off season

Horford
Favors
Harkless
McCollum
Lillard

I like our chances with a couple of decent bench players in Crabbe, FA SF, Davis

It's tougher to sign-and-trade players now than it used to be. There were some additional stipulations put into the last CBA that slowed that down quite a bit.

The link says he's unhappy in Utah, but doesn't say why. They gave him a big (at the time) contract and made him their number 1 option. So, what is the reason for his unhappiness? Doesn't like his coach? Doesn't like his teammates? Wants to play for a winner and doesn't believe UTA can build one around him?

He's a streaky shooter that's cold more than hot. His 3FG% for the last three years has been .304, .364. .349. He does get to the line a lot, but he's an average, at best, rebounder, but a good passer. He's also not a great defender. At this point, I'd rather upgrade the PF position (I think there's a lot more to be gained there) and keep Aminu at the 3. Aminu is a better rebounder and defender and at this pint, shoots the 3 as well as Hayward. Plus, he's less than half the cost and locked up longer. If Hayward comes here and is "unhappy" a year from now, he could opt out and end up being a one year rental.

I suspect he really wants to go to BOS to be reunited with his college coach. In the end, I think a trade involving Hayward and the 3rd pick probably makes sense for both sides and that's the most likely destination for Hayward.

Yep

If I'm UTA, I take that - Unless BOS sweetens their offer. Hayward doesn't want to be there and can opt out after next season. Might was well get what you can for him now.

The problem for PHX is they would have to include enough salary to make the deal work since they are just over the cap PLUS those Draft picks. Knight or Bledsoe would do it but then I wouldn't include both picks.

Story being refuted by a few others I've seen. Main source on him wanting out isn't great. I remember him getting laughed at on twitter by Hollinger last year. He was talking about a Conley -Jackson swap, Hollinger , who works for Memphis, responded, mocking him.
Don't think there's much to see here

Both sides came out about the same time. It's not nearly as much fun to discuss the possibilities of "teams not making a trade' though.

Utah needs a go to guy. That's why they're turning down draft picks. They would want CJ, but for me it would require more than Hayward.

I don't see us having anything to trade for Hayward...he'd fit great in Stotts system but Utah can get more from him elsewhere.

Having lived in Utah for a number of years, I can think of a number of reasons why he is unhappy living there. But I agree that Boston has a lot of assets to get the trade done. Way more than us......that and they see us as a bitter rival.
