Probably true, but I could see a chance of them getting through the summer without getting any major roster help, and then LMA telling them it wasn't enough. At that point, they either make a mid-season trade for someone in, or consider trading LMA. If Olshey swings and misses this summer, and then they lose LMA to TX, then he might never get another GM job.

I would be floored if Olshey doesn't make a major move this summer. He must at least take a chance and build around their core of Aldridge, Lillard and Batum. Everyone else is very very expendable.

I'm a believer in incremental improvement. You do what you can to become better next year and then look to do the same thing again each year thereafter until you are a legitimate contender.
I agree with this. However, that still doesn't change my opinion that Gortat is not worth giving away a player who will possibly/probably be better and/or more valuable in two years time. If we're going to give away a little of our future, then it should be for a player who has a chance of being part of the core rotation on the contender we're inching towards becoming OR a player who we'll be able to parlay into a better player via trade - I don't see Gortat fitting either of those.
So, to me it seems far better to just go buy a player who will serve the same role Gortat would, rather than give up assets to fill that role. Why spend $10 on a burrito when you can get one that's just as good for $4?

Are you saying that Leonard will be better than Gortat in 2 years? I must strongly disagree.

Oh hell no. I'm beginning to think that Gortat will be better than Leonard even after he's retired. But I do think there's a chance that whoever is drafted this season can be better than Gortat (maybe not in their rookie season though). As I said before, I'd much rather take the chance on a guy like Shabazz (or Len, or...) who at least has the chance to become something special. Whereas with Gortat you know FOR CERTAIN that he'll never be anything special.

If we have an opportunity to get Len for Leonard and our #10, I would much rather have that then Gortat. We can agree on this. But I am not even swayed with Leonard. I think he will be a semi-decent role player on an average team. Len could be a difference maker. Maybe even a Robin Lopez type player.
