Without question.
I keep telling myself this, and, "yeah, but the West is so loaded!!", and then I look at the potential this team does have now and think, "Why Not?"...
@illmatic99 may be right, and they may fall in the standings, but by the time March rolls around, and the league is gelling and the Blazers are (hopefully) healthy, "Why Not?"...
our schedule will undoubtedly get easier by March. just need to tread water in 2022 to have some life by then, but if we have prospects of being more than a play-in team, we have to do more than tread water.

Looks like 2 more weeks. Maybe they're waiting to get him in practices first.

Re-evaluated in Philly on Monday and cleared to increase on the court activity; so you might be right.

Could just have something to do with not traveling with the team on the road trip.

That, is obvious.
Accountability is not your friend, my friend.
I have been here for 16 years. I might have a history of making outrageous posts, but I don’t have a history of walking back a post. You can choose to think what you want. I don’t really care.

Which color is green?

You know - the color of all that currency they threw at Payton (and hard-capped the team) just so he could take an extended vacation.

And for the record, I think you were right the first time. At this point I see no reason to expect him to make a meaningful contribution.

The problem is that we don't need guards. At all. That's why the choice never made sense from the beginning.

While I would have loved to have a bigger player, it is wingspans that now matter not height. Positions mean less than they used to. Gary Payton does not play guard on Defense. He is always matched up against Jason Tatum or even Giannis when his teams play those ones.

I guess we will see. He hasn't stuck with anyone until he got to the Warriors and they have a fantastic defense.

I know wingspan is a factor, but I think it's a lot smaller factor than many believe. It's an often-used argument to try and justify shorter players. 6'2 isn't going to defend 6'8 well with longer arms. Much more important to have lower body strength and fast reaction

You could say the same of tall, skinny players who get pushed around. The fact of the matter is, it takes a lot of factors to be good on either side of the ball. Height and wingspan are basically offsetting ones, no matter how much you try to downplay the latter.

that's fair

what I have a problem with is people 'reaching' for a wingspan argument to rationalize a short lineup or settling for short players

I’m starting to wonder if Hart and Payton are going to be redundant.

This is a scorers league.

Sure, if they're average in other areas, and their only "plus" is wingspan, then it probably won't be enough to overcome other deficiencies. A team full of GP2's would probably be pretty damn good defensively, though. It's all about the individual's overall talents.
