I think they have a front office that thinks - genuinely- that they are smarter than they are. They overthink things as if they are being some super smarty pants basketball wizards when in reality many times the smartest thing is to make the logical, safe pick. Address a need if you don’t love the best player available. Overthinking it to the point that you take a guy that literally nobody else would have taken at 16 just means you are stupid, not smart. I’m sure they aren’t done - they better not be - or these guys are fucking shitheads

We moved only five spots back and got a 2028 unprotected 1st, got back 2 second round picks (as we gave away two yesterday in the Simons trade). So i’m giving this move a B. Unsure about the selection of Yang with a couple good players on the board.

Tells me Ayton and Williams are being shopped hard - certainly Williams. My primary frustration is seeing Grant still on the roster.

Kind of like a lot of fans in here...no?

Hahahha... the only difference is the front office has good reason to believe they are smarter than message board fans. Message board fans have no legit reason to think they are smarter than any NBA front office.
Yet nobody in the nba agrees with Cronin. So who’s smarter. Cronin or the rest of the nba.

Nobody agrees with Cronin? What does that even mean and how did you come to this conclusion?

If you can find any evidence that taking this CENTER at 16 was something any other team would have done please send my way. Not a single report has this guy as the 16th pick

Because there is no evidence whatsoever that anyone had Yang Hansen on their board at 16. Not one person has said this is a good pick.

There is no evidence that the other 29 GMs weren't ready to trade up and take Yang at 17 either. Here's one person who must think it was a good pick.

Its literally a move where you fart, smell your own brand, and think you have the best farts known to man.

Cool. Now I will go find 500 random posts from people who have Yang nowhere in the top 30

That would be as meaningless as your original standard. And if I did, you'd move the goalposts again.

If you think you know more than NBA front office people, I admire your confidence. You're certainly not alone.

Again. There are likely 27-29 NBA front offices that would not have made this pick. Which is why he was not slated to be a top 16 pick. But you do you. Cronin for President.

But why would I want the best center from the draft? I’d rather have one of the guys with a higher ceiling than Ace.

Again. You are using your own made-up scenario to come to some conclusion. There is zero proof your statement is accurate, nor is it reasonable to get 29 front offices to give out their true intentions.

I don't think Cronin had a good week, at all. I just dont' need to make up stories to make a point.

So basically your viewpoint is we can never criticize any move the Blazers make because their in the front office and we're only fans?

Everything you hear, read or see on any outlet says the same thing. Even if you read the draft grades as meaningless as they are not one views this as positive. And no. You do not know who I talk to about this shit.

Never said people can't criticize. You can search all my posts and I've never said anything along those lines. People can say whatever they want.

You can say you're a better 3pt shooters than Dame or that you would defend Jokic better than Ayton. I just believe if someone says those things, on a message board, other people should be able to push back on their self-assessment and say that you're probably not as good as the professional doing the job with significantly more information.

The first part of your post is false.

The second part is true. I don't know who you talk to, I only know what you post on here.

Ok well I’m about 0/20 finding positive feedback on this pick. I’m sure he’ll be amazing.

I've already sent you positive feedback and you've forgotten it?

Hopefully Yang will be amazing. Most 16th picks aren't, but maybe! In almost every draft, there will be a better player taken between picks 17-60, than who was selected at 16. Hopefully that's not the standard.

You think there’s a single GM sitting at home right now saying “you know who really nailed this draft? The Portland trailblazers”? 0% chance.

I don't worry about these unprovable hypothetical situations like you. But if I said 100% chance someone said it, then you'd ask me to prove it, which I can't. Just like you can't prove none of them did. So why even think about?

I doubt any GM is sitting around saying any other team nailed this draft. I don't think GM's sit around focusing on how good of a job other GMs are doing and talking about it out-loud. That would be kinda weird, wouldn't it? And if they did, so what?

Didn't all the outlets say we screwed up the Aldridge and Roy draft, too?

*Edit*
No, it wasn't this draft. I don't remember which one it was.
