Trade Grant to Portland for Mil first done deal

Im very intrugied as to how, with our current assets, you would maneuver a needle-moving trade?

Dame is staying.

Ant is staying.

Nurk is staying.

With what we have to actually trade, how would you make a move for a more needle-moving player? OG sounds like a #7 +, who else? Ayton? Max deal and wilts in the playoffs?

I didnt want grant, I dont think of this as a needle-mover either. But I also dont know what we CAN do to do that. This trade is about as good as you can get value wise. So can you lay out a couple scenarios that are logic based to get better players? Not just hate on every single move and not give an alternative.

Trading Dame is moronic. There should NEVER be a trade mentioned about him in the next 2 years unless he asks out.

Also, at least Cronin isnt working around the margins. Hes actually gotten what could be an impact player (He'll be at most a #2 here, and its up to grant to see if he can be humble enough to accept that).

Mainly this post is to see if you're just going to complain about everything or actually have a rebuttal to everything you complain about lol.

Hello,

many have unrealistic expectations. Many of these same people are never satisfied or content. But some of these same people will get down on others for being happy or content.

Some simply cannot be REALISTICALLY satisfied.
I wish we could just trade the tpe and our #7 for #1 and James Harden and John Collins, but in a real world this was a great move.

Is Grant the end all answer? Of course not.

For those who aren't happy with this and getting down on those who are,
I ask this:
What realistic trade would a 2nd round swap and our 2025 first netted?

If no one can come up with a clear cut, realistically better answer, Then I say shut up and take the lumps Debra downer!!!!!

In a friendly brotherly love tone of course! :)

i said this is a win for Joe. Do you want me to give him a parade?

so if this was a win how was the pelicans trade still stupid, considering he used the asset he got from that trade to make this one?

This trade didn't make us a contender, so I'm not ready to schedule the prade or anything. However, I'm glad I wasn't one of the people freaking out that us losing the NOP pick (that we never had) cost us Grant. The case could be made we could've got more with the NOP pick than just Grant, but we'll never know.

The net trade of CJ/Nance for Grant/Hart isn't looking so bad at this point.

No, they expect anyone who was unhappy with the two deadline deals to assume the position in Pioneer Courthouse Square and be spanked by the casual fans who thought those were good trades.

Blazers for 2025 1st-round pick, sources say

    Adrian WojnarowskiSenior NBA Insider
The Portland Trail Blazers are acquiring Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant for a protected 2025 first-round pick and additional draft assets, sources told ESPN on Wednesday.

The Blazers have been pursuing Grant to pair with All-NBA guard Damian Lillard for over a year and now land him and absorb his $21 million salary using a trade exception, sources said.

The Bucks' pick is protected 1-4, and the deal includes Detroit acquiring the Portland Trail Blazers' No. 36 pick in Thursday's NBA draft for the Blazers' at No. 46, as well as a 2025 second-round pick back that Detroit had owed Portland, sources said. The Pistons also get a 2026 second-round pick from the Blazers, which will be the most favorable between Portland's and the New Orleans Pelicans'.

The deal delivers the Pistons $43 million in salary cap space for free agency, and gives them the fifth and 36th picks in Thursday's draft.

New Blazers GM Joe Cronin has overhauled the Blazers roster, and now moves toward making his first draft pick at No. 7 on Thursday night.

Grant, 28, is eligible to sign a four-year, $112 million extension beginning in December. He's entering the final year of his contract.

The boners who have been incessantly bitching and whining about Cronin for the last 4 months have been more insufferable.

If you thought the Clippers trade was a good trade, I seriously question your knowledge about the NBA.

Right now, and as I said the trade is incomplete until the 2025 draft, he broke even on the CJ trade.

Woooooopeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

So if we break it down in aggregate:

CJ + Nance for Grant + Hart + Didi + Ingles.

would you call that a win?

I certainly say MIL pick + 36 for Grant + 46 is. But would we not be in an even better place if we extracted more from NO?

We also moved 2 future seconds.

These guys want to throw him a parade for not grossly losing a trade. The trade is solid, but come on... I think people are just happy we didn't trade the 7th after that was the expectation for so long.

trading is like gambling. When i leave the casino having broke even, thats a huge win in my book. :)
Just sayin.

Let’s just say I am CONFIDENT that the Clippers trade wasn’t entirely on Cronin…

One obvious answer has been discussed quite a bit - trade down for multiple picks. For sake of argument, say we draft some combination of Duren, Sochan, or Davis. In a couple of years the combined value of those players will likely equal or exceed Grant and at a fraction of the salary. Another option, albeit harder to pull off, would be to combine #7 with the 2025 pick to move up this draft or next.

To put it simply, don't trade assets or tie up cap space on a vet unless they are really good. Otherwise, add players still on the upside of their career.

Also, can we please discuss how our newest acquisition is currently modeling for Vogue in Paris? I brought this up earlier in the trade thread, no one seemed to care then.

I'm happy about the value and that for once we got someone who may actually have an impact, and I can admit that being someone who didn't want Grant.

It's not going to make us a contender but we aren't sitting on our hands not are we overpaying. A value win.

Unless we sign him to the max. Then it's a loss. Lol.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and swag and then..free trip to Paris.....Vogue models everywhere?

were gonna have to pay him a lot of money, our backs are against the wall

we cant afford to lose him, unless were tearing it down completely

Eh. I disagree. We didn't give up much for him and since he's a vet we will see if he's a fit before the deadline. We're not stuck with him.

We don't know that. But he's the face of the front office. He takes the heat because don't know who to blame. Jody gets just as much heat, maybe more.
