Robin Lopez and the rights to #6

for

Batum and Leonard

Would we...would they?

Pros for them. They are actually rebuilding, so they add a young center and SF that their coach adores.

Cons for them. None really

Pros for us. Gives us a pretty solid defensive center. Gives us the #6 pick along with our own #10, that could be used in a deal.

Cons for us. I see none, but others will.

I'll oblige.

If they're actually rebuilding, wouldn't they want the rookie contract and MLE level player rather than a mediocre center prospect and a $11 mil+ /yr SF who has most likely reached his ceiling?

Cons for us: Can't we just sign Lopez outright through FA? Is losing Nic really worth a chance at Oladipo?

Is Robin Lopez an UFA?

MM -- you're just kidding -- you don't have a grapefruit sized tumor do you?

Nope, he signed a 16mil/ 3 yr contract last year, but has an opt out clause for both this summer and next summer. I thought it was a foregone conclusion that he would opt out. Maybe not?

Oops, you're right. It's just partially guaranteed, not a player option. Storyteller says:

2013-14 and 2014-15 are not guaranteed / Signed 7/27/12 for an assumed $15,359,284 for 3 years

damn. My bad.
