How do you feel about term limits for supreme court justices, then?

barfo
Good point....its like they are appointed Holier than Thow, Supreme Rulers.
10-12 year rule and none over 75 can apply....common sense

We are going to have to enact them soon, the advances in medicine will start to have a dramatic effect on lifespan.
maybe there should be a congress made up of senior citizens, lets say over 70? Oh wait, that 's kind of what we got now...

you will still have the opportunity to vote, just from another menue.
dictators our there for life unless they are killed or over run.
Would you want Trump or Clinton or anyone in that position for life, really?

This is a false choice. Trump may not even see the end of this term.

I know, but if we use your recommendation he could be there for life. lol
Could you see Bernie in that position for the next 20 years?

Your rhetoric is hyperbole and false choices.

None of us could see Berns in that position for the next 20 so...

term limits for congress. Should be two terms max. Throw the lobbyist curv balls with new blood.
Get the anchor/crooked politicians out of there. And start with the Bitch Pelosi!

That's the best argument I've seen for term limits. I'm talking about the undue influence of lobbyists.

I was joking...
Ok then, give me the name of a politician you'd like to see as President with unlimited terms, regardless of performance?

No one. WTF are you talking about?

No, that's a horrible argument, it's exactly backwards. Lobbyists become more powerful if the representatives are new to the game, not less.

If you know the rules, and how the game is played, and how to bend the system to your ends, and the other guy doesn't, you have a big advantage.

What we need is term limits on lobbyists. Like maybe 3 days.

That can be done by getting unlimited private money out of our politics. Which is something that would be MUCH better for us than setting term limits.

i agree about the blame on voters but when lobbyist are allowed to purchase politicians (both sides) and put them in the back pocket with campaign moneys etc, to me that makes the whole thing stink.

I think lobbying needs to be disallowed as far as monetary pay or giving certain privileges but the lobbyists will pad the pockets regardless if it's a 1st term, 5th term or 20th term congressman.

Never worked a job in his life. Always paid by taxpayers. He will have lifetime taxpayer funded pension and health care. And tries to gut Medicare, Social Security, food stamps, public housing, public education because people should work and not rely on government.

Another one bites the dust...

Probably so. Whatever it takes to keep new vitality coming into congress. Some from congress on both sides should have retired or moved aside a long time ago, but its hard for them to give up all the perks.
Plus they wouldn't know what else to do. Im glad they cant leave congress and become a lobbyist for 5 year at least.
New ideas and thinking every 2-3 terms would not be a bad thing. At least they would go into it knowing it cant turn into a full time career. Serv then move on.
