Documentary: When We Were Kings.

Fiction: Rocky

Not considered a sport movie but with some sports in it: Gladiator

I could list a hundred sports movies that I'll stop and watch if they happen to be on, but I don't know that I could ever settle on one as "the greatest".

Does "The Princess Bride" count?

Bull Durham
League of their own was pretty good.
North Dallas Forty had it's day.
Rollerball
Paper Lion

I don't really know which one would be the best?

Tin cup
Field of Dreams
The Natural
Longest yard

Matt Modine & Vision Quest is a one-of-a-kind inspirational sports movie with an absolutely loaded cast.

- Modine: Chief of Police Batman 3
- Bo-hunk boyfriend from 16 Candles
- Robocop CEO for the dad
- Men in Black hottie humps everyone
- Princess Vespa from Spaceballs
- Madonna singing at the local pub
- Coach is scientist for Dante's Peak
-Forest Whitaker wrestling teammate

In second place I might have Moneyball and while it probably doesn't rank in my top ten overall, my second place movie in the vein of Moneyball is Draft Day. I really love Draft Day, for a sports fan it's underrated but what I've found is that people that aren't sports fans really love the drama in that movie, which is the exact stuff that us sports nerds, geek out over on and near draft days and trade deadlines.

Grouping by sport, baseball pretty inarguably has the best pantheon of movies: Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, A League of Their Own, Major League, Moneyball, The Rookie, 42, 8 Men Out, just to name a few...but for my money, probably my favorite underrated baseball movie is "For Love of the Game".

Football: You're looking at The Program, Rudy, Friday Night Lights, Varsity Blue, Any Given Sunday, The Longest Yard, We Are Marshall, Draft Day, The Replacements...but here, I'd probably go with "Remember the Titans".

Boxing of course has the entire Rocky/ Creed franchise, plus Raging Bull, Ali, Cinderella Man, Million Dollar Baby, Annapolis, The Fighter, Southpaw...a lot of quality dramas. Creed might actually be the best of the bunch.
