Greg Monroe available

Isn't he like in the same boat when we had Greg Oden? How will that effect this summer if we wish to resign him since he signed that qualifying offer? Will we have his "bird rights"?

If we do, then I would love to take a flyer on him.

No bird rights, he is UFA this summer as no QO was made, he'd be a "win now" trade and if he fit and played well he may be an option for us given all out FA's this summer

Trob plus our pick this year would be good IMO

Hmmm that's a little concerning then. But man, maybe a good risk. Imagine Monroe and Kaman coming off the bench!!!!

Do we even have a first available?

Whatever happens, we must not allow Houston to get him! Monroe is exactly what they need

The issue with cap and resigning him.

If we resign him before our other "bird players" sign, then we can go over cap to sign them. It may not be a rental after all

he's also could be insurance given that LMA and ROLO are UFA's, if he liked it here who knows, but if we are really serious about this year then it something to consider

Except that the bird players have cap holds so you don't have the space to sign him first.

If our team is successful (talking WCF or better), I don't see us having any problem resigning any of our players.

Monroe is an insanely better "upgrade" than Freeland coming off the bench.

Ahhhh son of a bitch! Although, I think we are supposed to have close to max, if we renounce players. I don't know for sure

if he is traded to us from my understanding he is NOT a bird player, that only applies to detroit, and I believe he has to consent to a trade

Monroe also has played a lot of C, so there is flex that way as well

I think Denny is referring to our other bird players like Aldridge, Matthews and Lopez

Man if Olshey could pull this off, I don't see a team in the league able to play with us.

Your other free agents are cap holds even bigger than their current salary. You have to renounce them to have the cap space to sign Monroe to a bigger contract than MLE (if you have it).

Trade anyone who's not in the starting line-up, and exclude CJ, Blake, and Kaman. Get this guy! High/Low with Kaman/Monroe off the bench would go a long way towards making us contenders. The guy works the PAINT.

Between this and the CJ thread I'm drooling over the prospect of a Blake/CJ/Crabbe/Monroe/Kaman bench. There is ZERO reason for us not to play a 10-man rotation in that scenario, with nobody averaging over 33mpg*.

*Well, except Dame. He's good at 35mpg.

I'm gonna have to agree with you here. A solid 10 man rotation

And 4 very solid low post scorers (Aldridge, Monroe, Kaman and Matthews)

No love for RoLo's post game? I'd feel bad for Joel Freeland if we got Monroe but you can never have too much talent, especially big men.

I love Lopez's post game, but his post attempts require set up. The other players I mentioned have the ability to get the ball on the block and make things happen.
