Greg Oden back to rehabbing

Years ago I critisize Oden for not eating right. Recently he admitted to not having eaten good food and said he will turn over a new leaf. Sounds like I was right about my "guess". My guess was based on his statement that he ate junk food. Duh. I critisized and was jumped on for complaining about his eating habits.

We have no evidence to indicate one way or the other if he has kept to his promise - well - other than a witness account of him drinking. Human nature says old habits die hard. Your presumption of a relatively rare major lifestyle change despite zero evidence is the reach. Intellectually bankrupt, if you will.

How do you explain his performance which made him the consensus #1 draft pick before he came to Portland? He probably didn't eat the way you'd like him to before he came here.

I don't think you'll be happy until he's eating three squares a day at Old Wives' Tales.

Hell, let's just say it: Oden doesn't share the misery felt by the team's fans. It may not be fair, it may not even be rational, but as human beings we resent that. We cling to the illusion that the players should care even more than we do.

Are you serious? Every report I've heard about his mental state is that he's frustrated and borderline depressed about his injuries. You don't recall him apologizing to KP after surgery? Imagine the expectations being put upon him and not being able to live up to them. The guy is a competitor. Imagine not being able to trust your body? Imagine working your ass off in rehab only to get injured again.

There is no evidence to be able to state GO doesn't "share the misery".

At least someone is starting to get the idea here! Its too easy on this forum.

Congratulations on your trolling. It seems to be really working for you. Good luck filling the void in your life having a Cluster B personality leaves.

Oden was a physical freak in HS. Now he is a physical freak, but in not such a good way.

What about college? How could he have grown to be so large, so quick and so strong eating so poorly?

And by any measure (other than being able to run right now due to the MF), Oden is in shape.

Um, OK.

How much do you think he can bench press? How many situps, pushups, etc.? What do you think his resting heart rate is? How do you think his aerobic condition is? I bet even not being able to run, he can still pump a ton of oxygen to his muscles.

He can't even get on a basketball court right now. I'm not sure what your point is, but he's not in basketball 'shape', at least in terms of getting on the court.

My point is that everyone bitching about him not being healthy is probably in worse shape than Oden. Also, I said "in shape" not "in basketball shape".

Bro, go cry yourself a river.

Here's a vid I capped from CSN back in 2008. Shows him shopping.
[video=youtube;FtV2qsfmtgk]

He's buying hotdogs, there's some chips, taco seasoning, meat, eggs, lightbulbs, strawberry milk, probably some other stuff too. He talks about cooking on his George Foreman grill. Dunno if anything has changed. He did go on to play in the next season, which is where a lot of his highlights are from.

If you want to get on someone for eating crap, maybe try Dwight Howard or Andre Miller. Note that neither of these guys seem to be injury prone or really get much flack for their diet.

Aw, see someone does need some affection. You've seen one Cluster B, you've seen them all.

had to sign up to point out how wildly idiotic this post is. why would anyone care if oden is in the same shape as internet forum members? why would you be talking him being in shape compared to avg person? if someone is talking about a nba player being in shape, on a basketball forum, its prob safe to assume they mean basketball shape....

unless youre an oden sackhugger who is still delusional about his future with the blazers.

I believe what maxiep is trying to point out is, why have no right to judge someone that we really have no information on. I find it very very hard to believe that anyone in this thread really knows what kind of shape G.O. is in or what his diet is like nowadays. And simply rehashing the same old information from the past over and over and over is "wildly idiotic" IMO

I see your point, and this thread doesnt prove his diet is still bad, but as has been mentioned, it raises a reg flag. if the current instances show him making the same mistakes as the past, it seems reasonable to raise concern with fans (and management although im sure they know well more)

Somebody obviously didn't read the rules..... you don't have nearly enough posts to crack on my boy max like this. We usually wait til we have at least 25 posts. Denny usually somebody is banned for said offense, but I think this guy should be saved. Thread lightly rookie!

I have every right to judge. All of us as fans that vest our intrest, time and dollars into a public figure/s such as the trail blazers and their players have every right to form opinions and discuss them, hence why ripcitytwo even exists. Not only do I invest my Interest, I also invest in the team with season tickets (expensive ones too). These players wouldn't be talked about if there wernt fans paying to watch them.

If I invest in something I want to see results, which with the blazers, and oden, I am not seeing positive ones. Tickets are still going up in Price as the product continues to fall off. My expectations for oden and sinking just as quickly. Up until this season, I was one of his biggest supporters, but it is time everyone sees the writing on the wall that the dude is just a flat out BUST.

I feel for your plight as a season ticket holder, ( I cannot afford them ), and I think it's imperative we form opinions and discuss them regarding all our vested interests. However, there is a fine line between opinions and judgments. We do not have every right to judge because we simply cannot see all sides of a situation. It's like watching a ten car pile up out the corner of your eye and then you saying without a doubt who's fault it was.
