Emotion overwhelmed Greg Oden as he picked up his identification card at Ohio State University inside the student center, surrounded by giddy 18-year-olds.

I also don't see he's broke. But even if he has money, he's 28, what is he supposed to do for the rest of his life? I see it sad. He has known nothing but basketball since 4th grade. He never had to learn anything else. I'm glad that at a still young age he is realizing he needs a new path. Whether the rest of his life is satisfying and valuable is up to him. He does seem to be trying, although frankly I think he got off too easily on the assault. (no doubt a good lawyer)

It's good to have great talent but an athlete also needs to learn to be a person.

It was a moving article. Can't argue with the frustration Oden's career must have been for him. I never blamed him for his injuries, was just disappointed, and surely he was more disappointed than anyone.
I wish him the best, hopefully he finds his way, maybe he could find his place as a coach or an assistant and I guess his most important work would be with himself, to accept the frustration and the failure of his NBA career and move on from that

I have no pity for someone who hit's women or children .

He was dealt an unfair knee or two, but he kind of pissed away any sympathy when he hit a woman.
