The question isn't whether Jeter makes it on the 1st ballot, (that much should be a slam dunk), the question IS- Will Jeter make it unanimously???

IMO- Jeter is the only one worthy; other than Omar Vizquel. I would like to see Omar Vizquel enter the hallowed halls one day sooner than later Vizquel is 12th on the All-Time Games Played list. Omar was a magician at SS; played more games at SS than any other player.
Omar also has the best All-Time Fielding Pctg, for all Shortstops, at 9.85. His best overall years in Fielding Pctg at .993 in 1998 and 2006

The 32-player ballot includes 14 holdovers from last year and 18 newcomers. Here are those 18 candidates new to the ballot, in alphabetical order:

Players are allowed a maximum 10 years on the ballot and must appear on 75 percent of submitted ballots to garner induction into the Hall of Fame. They must appear on at least five percent of submitted ballots to remain on the ballot another year.

Last year, 425 ballots were submitted, and players needed 319 for induction. Players are eligible for up to 10 years on the BBWAA ballot.

Yeah, it's sort of a underwhelming list this year...6 or 7 PED users on the list...let's keep 'em out.

Jeter just might join Mo as a unanimous inductee.

Based on his accomplishments Jeter should be a slam dunk and unanimous pick for most. I have heard though that Jeter has "alienated" some HOF members because of the moves he made when he took over the Marlins. In my view new ownership, new changes and that's the way it is. However there are some who claimed Jeters' moves were revenge for the '03 World series. Stupid assessment in my book, the series was lost and revenge could only be gotten by winning the next WS with Miami. If Conine and Mc Keon and the like were so concerned about the franchise why didn't they jump in and try to get in on ownership. Nope, Jeter came up with the goods and got it done and though some may be miffed Jeter will be in Cooperstown this coming summer. Other than Jeter no other on that list jumps into my hit parade.

Yup, if Jeter's moves were motivated by "revenge", in addition to Stanton, if he really wanted revenge he would have also dealt us Christian Yelich.

My reply was that Jeter was the last guy you'd want to bet on not succeeding. Jeter pulled a number one fleece job on Cashman getting him to take that broken sown nag Stanton. Payback for the way Cashman tried to short sheet Jeter on his last Yankee contract.

Ted Simmons, Seriously?? Wtf-!!! Since Simmons gets in, then Dale Murphy and Tommy John belong in the HOF~!!

Miller should of been elected a long time ago imo...

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will induct at least two new members next summer. On Sunday night, the Hall of Fame announced that groundbreaking union leader Marvin Miller and eight-time All-Star Ted Simmons were voted into Cooperstown by the 16-person Modern Baseball Era Committee.

Induction into the Hall of Fame required being named on 75 percent of the ballots, so twelve votes are needed for induction. Simmons got 13 votes and Miller received 12. Dwight Evans (eight), Dave Parker (seven), Steve Garvey (six) and Lou Whitaker (six) all got at least six votes but fell short of the 12-vote threshold.Tommy John, Don Mattingly, Thurman Munson and Dale Murphy were also on this year's Modern Era ballot.

Miller, who died at 95 in November 2012, was the executive director of Major League Baseball's players association from 1966 to 1982. As the first chief executive of the MLBPA, Miller's significance in baseball can't be overlooked. He helped to negotiate MLBPA's first collective bargaining agreement with the owners in 1968, and worked to increase the average player's salary during his time as the union chief. Miller was previously on the ballot six other times, and he fell two votes short of the necessary twelve in 2009.

Simmons, 70, was the St. Louis Cardinals longtime catcher, spending 13 of his 21 MLB seasons with the Cards. Simmons carried a career .285/.348/.437 slash, with a 118 OPS+. In his first seven full seasons in the big leagues, Simmons hit above .300 in each of his first three full seasons in the majors and received MVP votes in six seasons. Simmons recorded 193 hits during the 1973 season, the most of any MLB catcher who caught at least 150 games in a season. A switch-hitter, Simmons also played for the Brewers and Braves.
