I absolutely agree that if Obama had acted like this and done the things Trump has done Republicans would be losing their minds. The one thing I find fascinating and we'll never know is if everything was completely reversed would the Democrats be looking to block impeachment as well (in the senate).

Good points, and I think the answer to your question is yes.

Another mind game that I've played with myself is a what-if regarding the whole abuse of power charge. Let's assume Hillary had won the election and that Trump was in the midst of another campaign to unseat her in 2020. Let's also assume that one of Trump's offspring was on the board that Hunter Biden was. Say Trump is building a hotel in Ukraine and Hillary is suspicious that some shady crap has gone on that would violate US laws. Let's say she's holding up aid to Ukraine based on allegations of corruption, as Obama did. If she asks the Ukrainian president for the favor of an investigation of Trump, do you think any Democrats would be concerned about abuse of power?

We'll never know just as you said...but I think today is a bit of a hangover for Reps and there are a lot of knee jerk reactions. But I also think that after the dusts settles somewhat and people have more time to digest what has transpired, things will be viewed differently as part of the bigger picture.
When I look at the big picture. Our system is royally screwed up.

Edit: And the flip side of that, do you think that if they learned of Hillary's call, there would be a few Republicans calling for her impeachment based upon, you guessed it, abuse of power?

It seems sometimes that the whole country has a chronic case of Tourette's and there seems to be a whole lot of anger and hate and venom. But I see it as a watershed moment and our best hope is to replace Trump at he ballot box next year because I see him as partly complicit as to why things are as they are in this country.

I think there are two courses, we get a "peacemaker" in office, or we get a civil war in the near future. The problem is I don't believe the DNC or GOP have any desire whatsoever to offer "Peacemakers" they want power and thrive off of the dissent.

She's many things but I don't think Hillary is stupid enough to make that inane call in the first place .

Yup, this also parallels and supports both of our stances on the two party system and term limits.

Oh, I agree. Hillary would have been much more circumspect about it, but you know she’d have done something to get the dirt. Does the fact that she’s more experienced and adept at hiding her “abuse” make it better or worse? Trump, to this day, thinks his call was perfect.

Yeah, I get your point on the hypocrisy of the 2 parties. But Trump brings most of his woes on himself because he runs his mouth to much, publicly and on twitter. And though I can't stand Hillary, she's much more reserved/tight lipped.

Agreed on both accounts.

Biden is the only one who "made that call".

Everything from the Dems since the election has simply been a coverup of it.

Attempting to insult someone by noting that he or she is far more experienced and educated than you has to be the weakest troll ever created.

And Jeffrey Epstein didn't kill himself.

e_blazer, House did call some Republican witnesses. They did not call Hunter Biden because this was not an investigation into Burisma, which has already been investigated. He would have no information on the actual inquiry, neither would Joe Biden. They did not call whistle blower due to federal protection law, and because everything he/she claimed was supported by other witnesses.

maybe the system isnt perfect, but it would be hard to imagine, when it was created, that there would people like Trump running and winning elections because half the country got brainwashed. I mean, who could see that coming? They probably had higher hopes for Americans. It likely didnt cross their minds that someday we'd be firing AR15s and paying off porn stars and have Twitter and Fox and CNN forcing false information across the country. So the system is broken now, because of the people, not necessarily because of its design.

Anyone figure out wtf Tulsi Gabbard was thinking yesterday?

"Following her “present” votes, Gabbard introduced a resolution calling for censure against Trump for abusing his office, in hope of “[sending] a strong message to this president and future presidents that their abuses of power will not go unchecked, while leaving the question of removing Trump from office to the voters to decide.”"

She admits that Trump's "abuse of power" should not "go unchecked" but she clearly failed to take a stand and vote that way.
No, but I think she just might lose her re-election bid. Hawaii is a pretty Liberal state.

That's the other part that makes no sense...if she's "a Russian plant" or a "closet Republican", why didn't she vote "no" on impeachment?

But to straddle the fence like she did makes no sense.
It may be because she wanted to vote no, knew that a no vote was futile and decided to take her chances on getting elected in a Liberal state while not really deciding any issue result. That's just a WAG. You're gonna have to ask Tulsi to get a more mystified reply. She doesn't want to give her thinking, whatever it is, away.

She's not running for re-election. Going to be a Fox News host instead, or possibly a 10-month Trump acting something-or-other.

If that were only true.

If the Hillary was the most un-electable candidate in your life time, and whoever the Democrats are going to nominate for 2020 is also going to be the most un-electable candidate in your life time - maybe you just don't like Democrats.

For being un-electable, Hillary sure got a lot of votes.

and still lost to DONALD TRUMP.
But I already knew you didn't learn anything sir.

Who investigated Burisma?

The new prosecutor in Ukraine, put in place when the new government fired the corrupt one now conspiring with Giuliani. You can look it up.
