Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

You talking about yourself now?

I think it is pretty funny how you and a couple of other posters are apparently so butthurt that you have to keep bringing me up in several threads after 4 games in summer league...lol...apparently you have thin skin\got feelings hurt by what I said :dunno:

Lillard has played well...against d-league type talent...let's see what he does against NBA caliber PG's before we annoint him as our next savior....

Rivers is going to be in the D-League? I thought he was one of your guys?

Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

I was hoping for Drummond/Rivers out of the draft. It didn't happen and I hope I was wrong. It looks like I was. I would rather the Blazers do well than for me to be proven right.

Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

I was against picking Lillard at #6 and I was wrong. He's not "going to be a star". He already is one. With some players you can just tell. He is one of those players.

He needs to work on

1. Going to his right

2. Splitting defensive traps

3. Finishing at the rim

4. Defensive pressure

Before we should start throwing out the "star" word

Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

I completely agree that we need to tap the breaks on anointing him the next great point guard in the league. I've cringed a few times during games when announcers started throwing out names like Derrick Rose, etc.

The one thing he's done for me however is that he's completely changed my mind about the kind of player he is; coming out of Weber State I was pretty worried he was just another shoot-first combo guard who was probably going to be masquerading as a point guard, and would have a huge transition in front of him learning how to run a team. So from that perspective, he's converted me to a believer that he's a real point guard (and a talented one at that) but this idea that he's going to storm the league out of the gate is kind of silly. There's so much stuff that has to break right and so much learning in front of him that it's a disservice to put these premature expectations on him before he's even played in a real NBA game. He's got a great chance to turn into something special, but we really just need to sit back and enjoy the fact that he's even got a chance.

Slow your roll people.

1. He goes left because defenses play his right hand. Not a problem.

2. I agree.

3. He finishes at the rim fine. Not a problem.

4. We didnt pick him for his defense. However heis a willing defender. Not a problem.

He is already a star.

Is this your first Summer League?

Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

The only thing that he needs to work on is his handle IMO. And it's not bad to begin with.

Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

The Blazers already see he is special too. Why else would they sign Ronnie fucking Price?

Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

What's funny is he is a star, or potentially on his way to be a serious one if he pans out. When has a Blazer gotten such crazy attention so early? Dame has all the NBA media talking about him, he gets talked about during other teams games. He's getting love on ESPN, getting tweeted about by national writers, getting twitter shoutouts by NFL players. We sometimes complain we don't get attention, now we have a guy that steam rolling himself to the top.

Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

Fear.
I've watched all 4 blazer summer league games, License to Lillard videos, Lillard Sac. video, and hear predraft and post draft comments about him. It is not simply a matter of looking at some box scores and saying "he's going to be great. " As others have said it's not just that he's doing well, it's how he's doing it. If you've seen all of the games and videos, the evidence is incontrovertible, but why are some people still hedging? FEAR.

For some reason if you predict a player won't be great and he turns out great, there is no stigma to the error. However, if you predict someone will be great and they aren't, apparently one looks stupid. That combined with the fact that most of the players that "look great" don't actually end up great leads to prognosticators to "play it safe." People on this board (and around the world) want to feel like they are smart, so they say everyone is mediocre (except the obviously truly exceptional like Shaq, Duncan, ...). Indeed, they are smug about it. But, it isn't "smart" it's "ballless".

Lillard will be great. Like Shaq for whom the NBA was easier than college because he no longer had to face triple teams, like Roy for whom the NBA was easier than college because he no longer had to face the box-and-1, the NBA will be easier for Lillard because he will finally have some teammates who are threats. The were no questions about Lillard predraft relating to the individual parts of his game. The real questions have been "is the Div. 1 college game to fast for him?", "what about the NBA?" He's answered those questions, again the only questions about his entire game predraft.

As for Blaze, yes it is annoying when people throw their predictions in your face repeatedly, but at least he made a bold prediction. I haven't watched Harrison Barnes play, but I know Lillard is the real deal, and in a position of need. Time to move on.

Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

From Kerry Eggers article at the Trib:

Lillard was at his most spectacular in an 84-78 victory over Atlanta Thursday, going for 31 points and seven assists and only three turnovers in a 32-minute masterpiece that had scouts from throughout the league singing praise.

“The best player I’ve seen at summer league,” said one NBA executive, who asked not to be identified.

"He’s not going to be a great player — he already is one,” said a scout from another team.

It's not just rabid fanboys on the internet that are hyping this kid.

Agree to disagree

I think I'm somewhere in the middle between you and Tlong. I definitely agree with the first two though. I would also add that I would like to see more of a mid-range game as well. Some pull-up jumpers and some floaters. I didn't notice an inability to finish at the rim though, and I thought his defense looked okay. He could use some work on it, but he's not bad by any means.

I could make a similar list for LeBron James, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and anyone else. However, you're plenty happy to throw not only the word star for them but "superstar."

Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

where are these Harrison Fucking Barns anyways? Are they in Vegas?

Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

LOL at saying he needs to work on going to his right. The reason he goes left is that the defense is playing his right hand.

maybe he means, and I'm just guessing because it confused me too, he needs to work on going right more. Not as in improving his ability to go right, but just the frequency of it?

Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

HCP does like horses.

Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

lillard is right handed, if they force him right he is going to kill everyone, gimme a break

Maybe, but I don't know why you would want to increase the frequency when that's how they're playing you.

Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

He has had the opportunity to go right. Lillard is very good, don't get me wrong. He just needs to work on going right is all

Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

Nah. The fact that he's so good going left is one of the reasons he's so good.

Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

Yes, we all know how shitty it is to have a right-handed player who can surprise people with his left hand.

Oh, here is Dame splitting a double with his right hand and finishing with his right hand.

You're such a contrarian. You already have invalidated your "expertise" with your Leonard/Big White Stiff nonsense. Welcome to my world.

Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

Lillard needs to work on it. If you guys don't think so, then great. I am not here to argue about it.

Every player needs to work on something in their game, especially if they're a Blazer, and the "experts" here can pick apart their games on a daily basis. Thanks for the expertise. It's as valid as anyone else's here.
