Well, it took 313 games, but I think Harrison Barnes might have been a decent draft pick...

At this point, I think you might be able to call him a decent free agent.... but the Warriors didn't get shit out of him.

And actually, if you look at his last five games, the dude is extremely inconsistent.

31 against the Rockets.

10 against the Rockets.

14 against the Jazz.

17 against the Blazers.

34 against the Bucks.

Sometimes its not the player, its they system. I'm sure Barnes has a ton of freedom he never had before.
If a system hand ties you because it has better options, then your game has little chance of improving. I think he was stuck in GSW and never got a chance even though he was a starter.

Barnes is making MAX money right? He has certainly been better (a lot of that due to getting many more shots) but if he is getting MAX I wouldn't say I am still thrilled at his game in and game out production at this point if I was a Mavs fan.

And then you've got Wes making max as well..... ouch.

He's averaging almost 21ppg on 49% shooting, as well as hitting 94% from the line so far (early though it may be).

I mean, he's not doing anything else, but he's definitely scoring pretty efficiently.

I haven't seen him play but if he is providing good D then that maybe enough because as you said, he isn't really filling up the box score in other areas.

I don't really know...or care. But I agree that he needs to be doing more than scoring in order to be considered good. There are TONS of players in this league that have the ability to score 20+ PPG if given the opportunity - but a lot fewer that can put up 20+ PPG on a winning team.

Nate- why do you bash Crabbe but are insanely protective of Turner? Serious question.

I can confidently say that I would rather have Barnes than our first two FA targets....

It's impressive how with next to no assets Dallas have turned their ageing team into a core of Smith-Barnes-Noel with the little Curry also showing a lot of promise.

Probably helps that they won a championship and Dirk is cool playing Grandpa Dirk for the youngins while rebuilding on the fly. Whereas Kobe took up like half the cap for the Lakers and prevented them from rebuilding until Kobe retired.

idk what my fav post in this thread was. one from the OP, one from blaze, or KS saying Barnes was a player who comes along once every 20 years.
Man. epic thread.
