John Nash will be on this hour. That should be interesting, to say the least.

Ha ha ha ha I don't kow if they take questions on the show but it sure would be funny if the only one sent in was why he passed on Chris Paul. Like 8000 of them.:ghoti:

And another 4000 about why he passed on Deron Williams.

The reason he gave on draft night was Sebastian Telfair was the future PG and was only 1/4" shorter than Chris Paul. Brilliant.

Does anyone else miss Nash's response to our emails? You have to admit, a GM that answeres emails is pretty cool.

He's probably the only GM to ever do that.

Other teams fans would write him and he'd respond. I remember a Raptor fan breaking the next that most teams were trying to trade up for Deron, over Paul, via John Nash.

Mike Barrett is on right now. He's a proponent of standing pat with the roster. I can only assume he's also a proponent of getting bounced in the 1st round next season as well.

Just like failing to make an major offseason trade last summer or trading RLEC was going to keep us out of the playoffs last year...

If that's what the front office wants, then it's OK with one Mike Barret.

The jump from just making the playoffs to having success in the playoffs is much harder then the jump from non-playoff team to playoff team. So your comparison is not really correct.

Neither Denver nor Houston were able to make that leap without making moves and taking risks. Portland is no different. They are going to have to take a risk to get to the next level. Otherwise, we can all enjoy first round exists in the playoffs for years to come.

Maybe that is cool with you. For me, I would like to attend the finals game where Portland wins it all. Anything other then that is kind of a disappointment for me.

LOL at standing pat. That would be a joke, and an epic failure by KP .

He would trade Roy to move up to nab Brandon Jennings in this year's draft if he were still GM.

Nice guy. Awful GM.

He was severely handcuffed in terms of making trades, I don't blame him a bit - he was order to reduce salary spending. OTOH, he made a poor draft pick in Telfair, and compounded his mistake by not realizing he had, in fact, made a mistake. Thus, he did not take a PG when a choice of the two best PGs in the game today were readily available to him.

Not a surprise that MB wanted to stay pat, the guy admits to spinning things toward a certain way, but if we make a move, then he's all on board and tries to spin it another way.

A jump from finishing 10th in the West to tied for 2nd in one year isn't major improvement? How is that "just making the playoffs"? We made the jump from a non playoff team to a team who only finished behind the Lakers in the standings and having home-court advantage.

Where you one of those people last summer or at the trade deadline saying we wouldn't make the playoffs without making a major move? If not, then my comment wasn't directed towards you anyway.

Damn, I'm sorry I missed it. Did Antonio ask him why Martell Webster was tooken* over Chris Paul?

BNM

* Antonio actually used the "word" tooken during a game broadcast this past season - in reference to how many free throws the team had "tooken".

It kept us out of the 2nd round...

I can see it now though... opening night.. vs the Lakers, rousing chants of BEAT LA! BEAT LA! Then the arena goes dark.....

*silence*

Now Mark Mason directs our attention to the Spotlight... Ric Flair's entrance music starts playing over the speakers.... Slowly the 2nd round banner is unveiled. A Tear drops down Roy's cheek because of the accomplishment. I'm getting chills just thinking about this..

The only question that remains....

Where are we gonna hang the banners for all the 2nd round appearances? :dunno:

lol...

And when we lost in the 2nd round, it would be Nate's fault and because of our lack of a 3rd scorer.

Somehow if we beat the Lakers but lost to Denver, it would have been Nate's fault and because of our lack of a 3rd scorer.

Rinse and Repeat

You know what Nate's biggest failure has been? Sergei Monia. That guy had All-Star written all over him!

:devilwink:

I remember after that draft Nash talking about how he thought about using one of those back to back picks in the 20's on HA.
