Pros/Cons?

I was at the store, damn, razors are fucking expensive. Like 2-3 bucks EACH.

I use the Philips Norelco 7310XL

I'm pretty sure it's the cheapest one they make. It works fine though, just have to go over the same places a few times. I'm sure the more expensive ones are even better.

I never felt that electrics would get as close as razors. They're waaaay easier though.

Always hated the feel of electric razors- its like its pulling on the skin and its not getting that close of a shave. Might be just in my head though. I like the fresh kind of feeling after you shave with a razor. Over time I think it costs a ton more though.

My preferred razors right now are the disposable BIC ones that have 3 or 4 blades. Not the shitty yellow ones but the next step up- they're blue and come in packs of six or eight. I find that they shave the best out of anything I've used (my facial hair grows in spirals so I don't have a true 'against the grain' and it makes certain spots difficult to shave all the way and somewhat painful if the razor can't handle it) plus they're among the cheapest of the disposable options.

IMO those fancy razors where you only replace the blades are very overrated. Its a nice feel when they've got some weight and they're metal but the actual shave is no different from anything else (and like I said worse than the BIC ones IMO). They give you the handle free but charge up the ass for the blades.

I always feel if I shave with electrics I'll get razor bump. Plus I like the feel of shaving, personally.

Was at the store, 5 refill blades are like 15 bucks now. wtf.

Gillette Good News disposables.

Cheap disposable razors [Gillette Mach 3 from Costco are the best for high quality disposables].

I also use 100% all natural aloe vera as shave gel...you can usually buy the all clear, non alcohol, non fragerance, 100% aloe in bulk for cheap as well!

I recently switched to one of these. The head on the less expensive one is the same as the pricey models that have more features.
I've tried electrics before unsuccessfully as I have a thick beard and don't like the pulling and have had difficulty getting a close enough shave.
I'm well satisfied with the switch and enjoy not having to buy blades and fuck around with that shit anymore.
The quality of the shave is much better than the ones I've used in the past...damned near what I get with a blade.
Plus, its easy to touch up in the evening if I'm going out.

I used to attach a 2-foot extension to my Bic, so I could reach my backbone. But now I just use white dye on the center hairs of my back, to achieve that skunk look.

I use both. I use that norelco mentioned above for touchup on my neck and face and a mach 3 for my head and face.

I just got 20 mach 3 turbos for $40 at costco.

I switched to electric shavers for a while - but got tired of them and went back to the latest Gillette model (whatever it is called now, the metallic orange/blue box).

Blades are expensive... but I tried Gillette Fusion... and I have been using the same blade for like a YEAR. Things must be titanium or something. The lubricating strip or whatever pealed off... but man the blade just keeps going and going.

I've actually gone backward. When I was a teenager, I shaved my peach fuzz with an electric razor. In college, I moved to regular razors. A couple of years ago, my wife got me a shaving kit with a badger hair brush and a straight razor. I cut myself a few times, but I've never had a closer shave...and it's great on getting those pesky scrotum hairs.

Curses! You beat me to the scrotum-shaving joke.

My back-shaving skunk joke won by a mile.

I like shaving foam, use the gillette lime one. thicker foam the better.

I use the Gillette Fusion and I can go a really long time without switching blades.

We should have a "What kind of facial hair do you have?" thread.

Ever since I could grow facial hair (2 or so years ago) I've only been completely shaven twice. I just don't like how it feels or looks. For a while I didn't even shave my neck.. I looked like Rudy lol. But now i shave my neck with the norelco I mentioned above and I guess I have a thick "chinstrap" since it goes from side burn to side burn. No mustache.

I don't grow facial hair too quickly or too thick. Easy shave.

Scrotum-shaving is NO joke. It's the last thing that happens before the needle pokes, scalpel slices, knot tying, stitches and quality time sitting in front of the TV with ice packs on your nuts.

Then you don't need to shave any more.

I should just not joke about anything related to the human body.
Sorry to hear about your scrotum.

I'm going to take a look at some safety razors this weekend. We'll see how that is.
