Notice Hassan Whiteside Trade Could Be Trail Blazers Hail Mary Move

Wow, what a really sad stretch you just made. A hypothetical trade that isn't even possible by a writer means that the team thinks Nurk wasn't good enough and are using Whiteside as leverage?

Give me a break.
The only thing sad is your complete lack of reading comprehension. I'm saying he wasn't good enough.

If the subject of trading Nurkic for Whiteside is even a topic for discussion, then we can safely infer he isn't the "third star" that Portland needs to get where they'd like to go. That's not saying Nurkic is a bad player -- I actually think he's slightly better than average as center's go in the NBA -- but any hopes people had that he's that last missing piece to push this team to deep playoff runs is a very big long-shot.

Portland Trail Blazers Receive: Hassan Whiteside
Miami Heat Receive: Maurice Harkless, Meyers Leonard, 2019 First-Round Pick

Talking in December of 2016, Whiteside admitted that the Portland Trail Blazers were his second choice in free agency. Could the Trail Blazers once again be interested in bringing Whiteside to Portland? If they decide to not retain Jusuf Nurkic, they will have a need for a center.

By shipping out Whiteside and taking on Harkless and Leonard, the Heat would save about $4 million in cap space. Acquiring the two would also help the Heat with three-point shooting. Harkless shot 41.5 percent from three last season and also averaged 6.5 points per game. As for Leonard, he shoots 37.3 percent from three for his career.

Portland has made the playoffs for the past five seasons and unless Damian Lillard and/or C.J. McCollum leave, they will continue to make the playoffs. Therefore, this first-round pick won’t fall in the lottery, which may lead to Portland being willing to trade it away.

At the end of the day Portland needs Forward production.
It's not a coincidence that Portland took off record wise when they got production from their forwards.
Getting Whiteside while giving up Harkless does not solve this issue.

It's simply not helpful to attack another poster. I suggest you attack his post rather than him personally.

Why are we restarting a dead conversation from May? On topic, I don't get the picture. It is too blurry to show anything and I'm obviously too dense to pull any real meaning from it.

Hassan Whiteside, on his personal instagram posted a video story of CJ doing drills. Kinda out of the blue. It's a bit unusual for players to post videos of other players randomly

CJ and Hassan have been friendly in the past. I believe that when Miami was in Portland last season - they had dinner together. Not too surprising, they seem to be friends.

Just curious why anyone wouldn't want Whiteside?

I don't think it is that people wouldn't want him. It's just that:

He's expensive ($25M)
He has trouble on PnR timing
He has had issues with teammates/coaches (nothing major, but more than current Blazers)
His vaunted defense doesn't appear to be really that much better than Nurkic when you check stats
He is 29, so will be on the downhill side for a center soon
