Hat Guy is working out Oden now???? WTF!!!!!

Welcome to our community

When post starts out with, "...I'm not gonna say this to be a flamer, but..." it's almost aways trying to stir shit up. But, can you blame the guy? He's a Raptors fan. He probably needs something to help him feel better.

Go Blazers

LOL at not having a clue

The clue I have is the guy you took is so far an NBA scrub who you hope pans out to be the guy Portland needs with BRoy; while the other guy is getting 28 PPG with a team that will most likely win a championship before the Blazers.

I obviously don't know every little fucking thing about Oden. Nor do I care too. What I do know is he hasn't shown up. When he does, than talk to me about how good his stats are.

I thought you were trying not to be a "flamer".

I merely stated that because I didn't want you guys to take what I'm saying to harshly.

Every thread is Blazers on this site when I click What's New? So why not voice my opinion. This is what I think, however I don't post here in this part of the site so I eased in slow.

Deal wit it :)

Like I'm not gonna say this to be a flamer, but what do any of you see Oden amounting too? He already injury prone, commits 100 fouls a game, and you expect him to come back and soon be as good as Durant at least? Now I'm not saying any of you are saying that, but I would have lost all hope in Oden by now.

What a flop he's been, how can you say he's not? Any Dwight Howard trains with Ewing because he is actually a good player. I think someone here needs to explain to me the upside, if any to this guy. He's injured one of the most crucial parts of his body, numerous times. Plus his stats when healthy weren't that great.

Oden is a bust, sorry. I woulda said two years ago Bargnani was a bust, but at least he'll be putting up 20 PPG next year.

Like I'm not going to say this to be rude but you are a moron.

He has been hurt CONSTANTLY, but he isn't a worthless player like Bargninny (spelled as intended)

LOL, man you guys are funny. I'm a moron, whatever ahaha. It's all in forum talk man, I'm not out here calling guys out based on what they think. But hey, I've been called way worse.

And being hurt makes him worth more? The guy has brought nothing to the table yet, and I'm saying he never will. Obviously If I'm telling you your number 1 pick is a bust, you'll call me a moron.

However, I'm not the one watching the guy who went number two blast off with a team who will win an NBA championship(S), already dropping 27 per.

That's fair, but first, you admit you don't know a fucking think about Oden, and it's apparent if you're quoting a guy who puts 28PPG on the box score to a guy that doesn't show up and didn't realize one is the #2 in player efficiency rating for his position and the other is #3 in the same stat. So playing time for both really equate to success and success in the playoffs. Ironically OKC got as far as they got because they literally had no injuries, the Blazers were higher Vegas favorites from game 1 to game 82 to winning a championship compared to OKC because OKC isn't quite there yet and I highly doubt they will have another season as healthy as last year, thus they likely WON'T win a title before Portland. I'd actually put money on that because stats don't lie. And third, promise me you'll come back at the all-star break and re-visit a 100% Oden that is finally healthy (just like Jordan was after his major injury early in his career and just like Amare was early in his career). So come back and then you have all rights to talk about how his stats look after 50 games under his belt. OK? Deal.

Now I'm not saying any of you are saying that, but I would have lost all hope in Oden by now.

Some Portland fans have.

Plus his stats when healthy weren't that great.

He's actually been tremendous when healthy. His main non-health-related issue is fouls which have limited his minutes to some extent (and McMillan, IMO, has artificially limited his minutes further out of fear of foul outs). That's why his raw stats don't seem impressive. But whenever he's actually on the floor, he's been a major impact player in offense, defense and rebounding.

So, the two questions are "Can he stay healthy?" and "Can he cut down on fouls?" Important questions to be sure, and no guarantees on either, but a lot less worrying than "Does he have any talent?"

Skepticism is fine, but his ability hasn't indicated bust. Really, the only way he'll end up a bust is if he never does stay healthy. Which could happen...we'll see what happens. But you can overcome early injuries...you can't overcome lack of talent. Which is why I'm very comforted by his excellent play when healthy.

Agreed. But when if it comes around and he is done nothing...that's good enough for me.

I didn't say I know NOTHING, I don't know EVERYTHING ;)

However, I'm not the one watching the guy who went number two blast off with a team who will win an NBA championship(S), already dropping 27 per.

Oden, even with the injuries, dropped a 23-24 PER. With much more impactful defense than Durant plays (though Durant isn't a bad defensive player anymore).

Steve Gordon is hat guy, and he is a former trainer of some sorts from the Sonics. it's not like he wouldn't know what the hell he is doing. This really isn't bad news at all

It's basically the one thing that I think Gordon is actually best qualified to do ... people are just flipping out because he's a faceless name and he's been mentioned in whispers and hushed tones before today.

If he can cure Greg of what ails him then so be it. It's not like Jay Jensen and Bobby Median have been setting the world afire with their unique abilities to keep Greg healthy enough to play.

Odens a bust? LOL Who would you not trade on your team for him Toronto boy? He's 22 years old and if he can get some good luck in the freak injury department he will be the reason why we win a championship.

Toronto boy? is that something like Encino man?

Does anyone else imagine a guy walking around in fedora, doing shady things that help us succeed?

lol @ Oden being a scrub. Yes, get a clue. I would bash you more but being a craptors fan must be enough punishment as it is.

HOLY SHIT!

MAYBE?!?!??!?!?

Well, it was a little difficult to determine from the article; here's the quote: "The program Gordon has built at the Pro Sports Club is not just a pillar in the local basketball community, it arguably is its foundation. Under Gordon's watch, the club was where Jack Sikma honed his stepback move and McMillan developed his jumper."

So, did Gordon himself actually even work with Sikma? Did someone Gordon trained work with Sikma, or did Sikma develop the move himself while working at the club? Who knows? I guess I was surprised that in a fairly long article devoted to one guy (Gordon), there wasn't really mention of any one outstanding thing that he accomplished.

I don't blame the poster because the league has forgotten about Oden after 3 years. He doesn't deserve praise till he plays and earns it. But poster, check who was 8th best NBA player last season.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/tiny.cgi?id=amNl1

When he went down, he was #4. He would have improved greatly as the season wore on. He would have finished somewhere in the top 3.
