Do you think people are quarantining if they test positive or are hey treating it more like the annual flu and going on with their routine?

It’s a blanket term for what the mainstream finds acceptable. There are thousands of scientists, epidemiologists and doctors with widely varying opinions on the topic but only the viewpoints that align more easily with a government or corporate agenda are given a platform. This leaves many average people believing what they see on television is some sort of unanimous consensus among the entire scientific and medical communities when it’s not. This is why you still have misinformed people calling ivermectin ‘horse medicine’ because they saw it on a late night show, or have pseudo-intellectuals like Bill Nye or Bill Gates’ opinions being more highly regarded than actual experts in the respective field. Most everything they’ve said has been wrong and now instead of owning it they are just pretending it never happened. Now the current administration is banking on the goldfish-like memory’s of their base to comply when they roll out the clown show again to stay in power in 2024.

I think that 3 years later most of us have been better educated on the virus and the do's and don't's when dealing with it. That, coupled with the fact that many have been vaxxed/boosted, with more updated vaccines on the way, we shouldn't see huge spike in cases/deaths... at least not to the degree of what we endured between 2020-2022.

I'd love to see an example of somebody taking the word of Bill Gates or Bill Nye over an actual expert in that given field.

I'm assuming this is related to COVID?

The media continuously giving them a platform through interviews and quotes while other more qualified experts were deplatformed, cancelled and banned for their opinions and research. I was referring to peak Covid times, yes.

The lack of self awareness here is truly astonishing. I’ve never demanded you provide citations or sources (mostly because you only post insults and blanket statements with nothing to actually prove), meanwhile you incessantly demand it of others while refusing to research anything yourself.

BS, you were asked to provide examples of someone actually taking the word Of Bill Gates/Bill Nye over experts...you failed to do so. The onus is on you to back up your own "blanket statement". My statement was not "an insult", it was factual.

When asked, all you offered to support this opinion of yours, was another opinion of yours...not at all convincing/compelling.

The media gives big names air time. That's just what they do. Look at Trump. For some stupid reason they're putting his truth social garbage on CNN.

It gets views. That's all they care about.

Are crackpots who once earned an MD or a PhD really 'more qualified' in any meaningful sense?

Every field has nutcases, charlatans, snake-oil salesmen, and such.

Being able to tell the difference between an expert and a crackpot is a useful life skill.

Some certainly are. Personally, if I have symptoms, I test, and if I test positive, I'll quarantine. My pastor tested positive earlier this week and quarantined for 5 days, and tested negative before coming to church today. His wife tested positive more recently, and stayed home today because she if quarantining.
 
What people who get the annual flu just go about their days? What a stupid and dangerous practice that puts so many others' lives in danger.

Never understood why someone like you and ABM and the ilk, would purposely post on a message board, while knowing in advance how your comments would likely be received and countered by the overwhelming majority of the people on said message board. That behavior is by definition "trollish", and serves no other logical purpose other than to "stir up shit" purposely.

This says it all. You don’t understand why people with differing opinions are allowed into your echo chamber so you take it upon yourself to play gatekeeper. Meanwhile you fall behind in meaningless semantics while other people are at least attempting to have discussions whether they agree or not. It’s why I mostly avoid engaging with you, it never goes anywhere, you’re just a self elected hall monitor cherry picking others’ discussions.

What in the hell are you talking about?...do you even know? I didn't say or imply that people are not allowed to post where they want, but instead, why they'd even want to in the first because of past history. Those individuals are either devoid of any common sense or they actually enjoy purposely posting obvious inflammatory BS just to get a rise out of people.

Post what you want, but at least back up your statements with facts/links/evidence, etc., complaining about something without facts or a clear solution is nothing more than whining.


Regardless, if you want to get back to the actual topic, I'm all ears.

Okay I tested positive Thursday night.

Friday morning I called my doctor's office. He's my regular longtime doctor, a great guy. He was on vacation so his nurse set up a video visit with the doctor covering for him for the same day.

That doctor was also very nice and very knowledgeable.

He prescribed Paxolvid. That's what I wanted from him but in doing a little research I asked him about Covid/Paxlovid Rebound. If you're not sure what that is you should google it.

(Also for all you anti-vaxxers you should do your own research on Paxolvid since it isn't a vaccine.)

Paxolvid was authorized by the CDC and is free to all Americans.

I'm following the doctor's orders to take it every 12 hours for 3 days then the last three days taking it every 18 hours. THIS IS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT THAN HOW MOST PEOPLE ARE TAKING IT but since I'm fully vaxxed and boosted and healthy this is his recommendation to prevent Covid/Paxlovid Rebound.

I had a mild fever and headache for the first two days. Since then nothing except really really tired. So lots and lots of naps. We do have an O2 monitor and my level has been consistently at 98%.

No real problems. Getting better.

I did get the Paxlovid rebound, be interesting anecdotally to know if the modified schedule avoids it for you.
My rebound wasn't particularly long or bad, though.
