I'm not putting any expectations on Lillard yet. Hell, this time next year, we may be trading LMA, and trying to go younger still... I don't know what the future holds, or who our core really includes yet. We'll just have to wait and see. That's why tonight's summer league game is like a playoff game for us.

Give Lillard D'Anotni and watch him make a few all-star games

They couldn't be more perfect for each other

Meyers Leonard is question mark for me. How good he becomes will determine a lot.

I like that he wants to pattern his game after Gasol a little bit. I can kind of see it, although I doubt he's ever on that level.

Leonard is more of a skilled big man than a monster like Oden was.

Watching Leonard play in the Big 10 this year, I think he is going to be a project. There were a lot of times he left a lot to be desired.

All I want from Leonard in his rookie year is to not get in foul trouble early

So if Batum is matched then your hopes rest on lillard and Leonard developing or a high draft pick next year...

You Lillard fans will love this gem from KFAN:

Needs- Starting C, borderline starting quality passing PG (Lilliard is not a starting PG), #6th man off the Bench @ SG/SF, backup PF/C

The butthurt is strong over there right now.

I have little doubt Lillard develops. Almost zero.

Then match him with D'Anotni? Greatness.

Why do you think Portland was so hesitant to get a deal done let season with him, where they allegedly offered him what like a $5-6 million contract?

They do a deal last summer/fall and they have helluva lot less cap room entering free agency. They didn't get their man Hibbert, but they wouldn't have even been able to offer if they'd done an extension last year -- Nic's caphold was ridiculously small at around 4-5 million.

Jason Quick ‏@jwquick

If the Blazers let Batum walk, they would have $14M left in cap space to sign other free agents or make uneven trades ... worth it?

So the Blazers will only have what 3 million or less left after signing batum, plus if they sign a vet pg first they won't have any cap less.

Is LMA/Batum a good enough combo to win in this league?

I guess acquiring Jefferies added some to our cap, but we'll have a lot of expiring deals next year, and we'll have enough to go after another max player.

If there's an SF as good and young as Batum available for 8 million, you're right...

... I just don't think there is.

That's what I'm looking at. Batum has been starting for two seasons and he's proven he isn't a robin type player. 12 mil per is at least that caliber player. There aren't many sf better than Batum, but there are a hell of a lot of wings better IMO. And if I want to pay 12 mil per for a player; then I hope it's someone better than Batum.
