Re: Nic 4 years, 46.5 Million

in 3 days we will have a Batum who makes 3 more million more then he should be paid.

Re: Nic 4 years, 46.5 Million

well, it'll all be over in 3 days. Though I'm not sure how MIN has the room to do it. :dunno:

Re: Nic 4 years, 46.5 Million

Nothing would make me happier than Olshey matching in like 2 seconds, although I like making them wait

Re: Nic 4 years, 46.5 Million

So, we need to make any unbalanced trades in the next 72 hours right?

Re: Nic 4 years, 46.5 Million

Well, I guess we see whether the Blazers match. I do find it funny that Batum's agent is all like I would hope that Paul Allen wouldn't stand in the way of Batum's dream of playing in Minnesota. If I'm PA, I would say, well I would hope that Batum doesn't stand in my way of winning an NBA championship.

Re: Nic 4 years, 46.5 Million

Okie dokie. Welcome back to Portland Nic ... now please earn all this fucking money

/fingerscrossed

Re: Nic 4 years, 46.5 Million

yep.

Re: Nic 4 years, 46.5 Million

It ain't my money, but I don't really think Batum is an $11 mil/year player. That's nearly what Aldridge is making per year.

I guess we're going to match just because we hate to see an asset leave without compensation, but it seems pretty overpriced.

Re: Nic 4 years, 46.5 Million

Nic isn't worth that money. Let him walk, PA.

Well, hopefully they just put the ball in his hands and see if he can shoulder the burden. Time to step up to the plate and earn that money.

Re: Nic 4 years, 46.5 Million

It's a risk to match. If he doesn't live up to the contract you are going to be fighting all the luxury tax paying teams trying to offload contracts. But, I guess PA doesn't care.

Re: Nic 4 years, 46.5 Million

Relook at the contracts being offered to FA's. It's not out of proportion to what's been handed out, and he is only 23
+1.

I mean, it's easy to just look and say that EVERYONE'S overpaid, but eventually, overpaid is only going over what the market might give them. Everyone wants to say Cs at 11 million are overpaid, but when they ALL make 11, then that's clearly marketvalue.
I think it's a tiny bit higher than I'd like, but I'd match and be happy with him on the team, maybe makiing a million more than he should, same way the max for Hibbert I would have been ok with.

The Blazers are going to suck for several years, overpaying for Batum isn't going to change that. Save that money for the future.

Re: Nic 4 years, 46.5 Million

so we have 3 days to make an uneven trade?

I disagree. Portland will not suck for several years, in fact depending on Lillard, they have a decent chance to get into the playoffs this season. As for the future, spend it on who? What high end FA wants to come to Portland?

You mean like in 3 years when he's about to become an expiring contract?

Re: Nic 4 years, 46.5 Million

Who are the FA Pg's (Not RFA) We need to sign one and sign Nic.

Also it is not really that close to what LMA will make. LMA will make 13, 14, and 15 million over the next 3 years.

Re: Nic 4 years, 46.5 Million

But is Portland a good city for a young rich French black man?
