Haynes says Giannis to Portland was a possibility--- what?!

Summary of what Haynes said.

Giannis put some pressure on the Bucks management. He thinks he was just playing his cards and wasn't really serious, but you have to take him seriously.

~'If Giannis was going to leave, he would have left for the Portland Trail Blazers. Giannis and Dame have become really close. They talking about working out together which is rare for Giannis to work out with anyone that isn't a teammate. They were talking about what it would be like to play together once their contracts allowed. They are very similar in not wanting to go somewhere to form a super team.'

It's fine and all, but we wouldn't have had the cap space to sign him and we really don't have the assets to trade for him.

So let's say Milwaukee sucks again this year and he asks for a trade, it's just going to be a similar situation as Harden asking to go Brooklyn or Philly.

And Dame is getting to the age where a teamup wouldn't even be that helpful when they're both free agents again.

Giannis will come to Portland when he's around 35, on the brink of retirement.

Dame also has never worked out with any non-teammates outside the team USA setting if i can recall. Even his Adidas guys (Mitchell, Redick, etc) or his agency friends (DeRozan et al), he usually doesn't interact with in the offseason.

Hold on, they're very similar in not wanting to go somewhere to form a super team, but he wanted to come to Portland...in essence making a super team!?

I think a Super team is what LeBron did with Wade and Bosh. An Ultra team is what KD did joining the Warriors.

Other than Dame, Portland doesn't have another legit All-Star/Superstar on the team.

If you listen to the whole thing Haynes says it wasn't determined where they would end up playing together, whether it was Portland or Milwaukee. He said they just talked about possibly playing together when their contract situations aligned. Also talked about how both guys are alphas that wouldn't actually want to leave their market (and would rather the other player come to their market).

Part of me wouldn't mind trading Dame to Milwaukee, just so a small market team could win a championship...

Yeah, I once said the same thing about San Antonio.....then I ended up hating them. It would not take long to hate Milwaukee too.

I think it’s a fair bet that Dame plays on the same team with LaMarcus long before he joins forces with Giannis.

10 years ago I was 56...that girl would have serious granddaddy issues if that were the case
there are a lot of those out there.
