he said mda, Hammon, and Billups would all interview in the beginning of the week. Doesn’t necessarily mean they’re done but it’s unlikely there are other candidates unless maybe Bud gets fired, which I doubt. I don’t think the Spoelstra connection was a recent development either.
woj has been coy about our coaching search for the most part, at Neil's request I'm sure.

but i'm waiting on hearing about udoka, maybe JVG (was initially proposed).

Does anyone know Hammon’s coaching philosophy?

Neil asked her about her coaching philosophy and all she wanted to talk about was the great business opportunity he could get in on with Lularoe and Herbalife!

*disclaimer - I'm joking. I don't think Becky is a MLM stay at home mom.*

We only hear from Woj what Neil wants us to hear. I still wonder if there's a candidate that is specifically not being mentioned to keep it off teams radars.

If it is D'Antoni, they might not be waiting for the playoffs to finish but they might be lining up a defensive coordinator type of assistant to announce is hired at the same time as him, so Neil can talk about all of the great things about Mike and then talk about how the hiring of the assistant falls in lock step with his comments after Stotts's firing about defense being the priority. But really who am I fooling, Neil would never hold himself to that standard of being that straight forward with the public. He'll just talk about the fact that D'Antoni has had top ten defenses several times in his career.

It's all just wait and see but this is a little excruciating.

I think assistant coaches are the decision of the head coach.

when essentially every media member is suggesting one specific name, I’ll go with it until there’s a reason not to. That reason hasn’t happened yet.

And that's why I think Billups might be a smokescreen.

When has Neil ever been super obvious about a decision?

They usually are but I wouldn't put it past Neil's hubris to break from convention. Maybe there's been a stipulation made for D'Antoni to bring one with him. Most likely it's something much more normal like the team is just going through due diligence or the candidate that we like is waiting to make sure this is the job they want.

all the time

drafting Simons
Signing Hezonja
Signing Giles
Signing Aminu
Drafting Dame
Trading for Whiteside
Trading for Afflalo

I mean these were all moves that were talked about on some level, media or on here, before they happened. He’s not that slick.

The Whiteside trade sure came out of nowhere when it happened.

I also don't remember Aminu being widely talked about before he was signed. I'm not so sure about your list lol

Maybe we get Carlisle?
Can’t believe he’s stepping down… especially after Cuban threw shade at the teams that let their coaches go - “The grass isn’t always greener” and “they have a winning coach now, why look for a new one.”

He’d be a great coach in Portland!

Woj was hinting at the whiteside trade a week or so before it happened. I remember because I posted specifically about it on here

Hiring the boss of your ex-coach is definitely an upgrade. We need an experienced coach to lead us. I am all for Carlisle.

Carlisle back to the pacers or to the bucks if they fire bud

Carlisle has a pretty lousy playoff track record with the one exception so not super excited at that prospect.

Wouldn't be surprised if Carlisle ends up in Boston. He played there and won championships there.

Yeah.... I kinda wonder if he bailed because he wanted to go to another team and there was a specific opening. Boston would make A LOT of sense.
