Does that mean offer him the GM role?

If so thats a horrible idea, GM's needs to make long term strategic decisions; the coach needs to focus on getting the most performance this year. They are both very difficult demanding jobs and need exclusive focus.

The Spo/Blazers stuff is so loud right now.

Guys, what I’m seeing on texts right now is enough to make you cry happy tears. Need it to be 6am already so I can talk about this stuff on air! Pivotal franchise moment and the possibility to hit a grand slam is right there

Yes or coach for few then become pres.
 
I think Spo would be an excellent choice, but what's the cost to get him? I remember Rivers being traded to the Clippers for a 1st round pick. SO then I debate, is any player we were able to trade for with a pick making us better than hiring Spo will make the rest of the team better? Maybe with some front office responsibilities, it would be looked at as a promotion, so Riley would let him go?

Seems a bit similar to the “Miami has interest in trading for Damian Lillard” tweets after we got bounced from the playoffs.

I'm guessing if Riley really wants to be compensated for Spo he'd rather have a draft pick than CJ.

Also we'd still have to take back salary equal to CJs. Not sure if the Heat are ready to move on from Butler.
 
The main thing I care about in a coach is that they can solve the Rubik’s cube of how to adjust to a team doubling on Dame. If they can also figure out how to get a defender out to cover the wide-open 3 point shooter on the wing, even better.
